hi,

lets explain my problem: friend and me both have an hercules rmx, and 1 mk2.  we want to mix together, we dont care if it is one the same computer, or if we need 2 computers. but we cant seem to get the setting right.

we have tried to run the outputs of the rmxs  to the input of the mk2 and use it as a mixer. weve setted the mk2 as soundcard and used internal mixing. but no we have a problem with prelistening (cue-ing) the sounds. as we cannot use the sync button, we have to mix the classic way (but this is not the problem).

so how would we best setup traktor, to dj with 2 rmx (possible with 1 extra mk2); so that we both have our 2 decks!

thanks in advance, mattie

the best and  simplest option would certainly be to each have your own computer and controller and feed the output of your respective soundcard to 2 channels of a mixer.

hi phatso,

first of all thanks for your quick response!

so we both have to use a different computer, with out rmx; set the rmx as soundcard on each computer.
can we use the mk2 as a mixer?

thanks!

like the rmx, the mk2 is a soundcard+controller that requires a computer to work. it cannot be used a mixer.

hmm, thats not good news.

meanwhile i was thinking, is there a solution; to split the monitor channel into 2 outputs.

so you can hear, e.g. deck a & b on monitor output 1 , and deck c & b on monitor output 2?.

the hole issue with the 2 rmxs is that if we are mixing with 4 decks on 1 computer, is that if one of us is cueing, the other friend has to wait untilll he has finished. we hear eachother trough the headphones. do you know what i mean.

we just need to find a way, so that i can hear deck a & b through my headset, and my friend deck c & d.

thanks phatso!

hello mattie_07,

if you mix on 2 separates computers, and want a separate preview:

1)  deejay1 with computer & rmx 1 :
- deejay1 mixes track a & b on this computer 1 with rmx 1 with his crossfader
- rmx 1 output 1-2 is connected to an analogue mixer input 1-2
- deejay1 uses rmx 1 headphones output to preview his tracks

2) deejay2 with computer & rmx 2:
- deejay2 mixes track c & d on this computer 2 with rmx 2 with his crossfader
- rmx 2 output 1-2 is connected to an analogue mixer input 3-4
- deejay2 uses rmx 2 headphones output to preview his tracks

3) you need an analogue mixer receiving the outputs 1-2 of both rmx
- the speakers are connected to the output of this analogue mixer
- you control the mix between the 2 dj on the crossfader of this analogue mixer
- you dont use the headphones output of this mixer
=> you can replace this analogue mixer by a dj console mk2 + computer, but a simple analogue mixer is smaller.

if you mix on a 1 computer instead of 2, the difficulty is that if the software has 1 setting for the monitoring instead of 2, you have only 1 monitoring for 2 deejays.

thanks maxdjack for your response!

so according to your first solution (2 rmx, 2 pcs) i still need to buy an extra mixer, because i cant use the mk2 (then i need a 3 pc)?.

is there no way i can config the settings, that we use 2 rmxs on 1 computer, use one of the 2 rmx as soundcard; and that dj 1 can hear track a&b; dj 2 can hear track c&d.

so we have 2 rmxs, 2 pcs and 1 mk2 available, as im learning here; the most i can get out of my material is 2 djs on 1 computer, both with 1 rmx; and we cannot cue/prelisten separately ?

thanks, mattie.

isnt there a way to split the monitor output in to 2 outputs,

like output 3: deck a & b and output 4: deck c & d. ??

or is it possible so that i can hear deck a&b on my left earcup, and deck c&d on my right earcup?

i just need to find a way to split the sound, so that we can cue/prelisten independently on 1 computer with 4 decks,

every suggestion is welcome!!
