hi there. i dont know if this topic belongs to software or hardware so ive put it here. here goes.
ive got a 4mx, latest version of vdj and a high spec laptop. im very happy with the product however i find gain control to be inconvenient so much that i have to just stay well clear of it. in that i find its not that responsive. if i want to pickup the gain by turning the knob i almost always have to go over the desired amount. and by pick up i mean so that i can change it. this becomes more annoying if i want to decrease the gain and not boost it. even with the slightest hand movements i find the only way to pick up the gain is to go over the the point at which its already at. why cant my gain stay where it is on every track or increase and decrease when ever i want much like the eq controls. the eq controls stay where they are even when i load a new track why cant gain do the same? i dont mind constantly manually setting it back to zero. but having to shift the gain knob past a certain point so that it can pick up seems a bit poo. can the gain function be changed in the way i want?
i hope you guys can help. cos i really love my 4mx but this is annoying for me.

Virtual DJ Pro provides various possibilities regarding how the gain is managed (it can for example set all files to the same level, or remember slight changes you make to individual files), but the LE version doesn't offer this possibility.

However, part of the "problem" you are encounting is do to the software takeover functionality implemented in the controller and in the software. The fact that you have to reach the currrent value of the control prevents sudden burst or drops in volume when a control is used for multiple puposes (for example the gain knob or EQ that will be used by both Deck A and Deck C).
