im on a dj control air from hercules, ive mixed plenty of times on the mixer before but now i own one its not working as i am used to. apologies for not knowing any technical terminology but ill try to explain as best as i can.
basically when im playing a song and want to drop in a new one i like, like most, to use some headphones to listen to make sure your songs got the correct matching beats/ snares etc, before you slide the crossfade over, or it makes it easier at least. when i press the headphone button for which side im mixing on instead of playing through my headphones it plays it out loud over the top of the other song.
im currently playing it through my laptop without any speakers, ive tried switching it between cue and mix but no luck. it really starting to confuse me as ive been through all the settings and changed everything but im still unable to figure it out. any help would be greatly appreciated 🙂
In order to have both the main mis AND headphone preview, the audio interface (or soundcard) must have at least 2 Stereo audio output. By using only your laptop speakers, your are effectively using 1 stereo output, which is why you hear everyting.
Try using the integrated audio interface of the DJ AIR instead, which was designed specifically for this usage. Be sure to configure DJUCED (or any other DJ software) to use the DJ AIR ASIO driver, and set the ouputs as follow:
MASTER: Output 1-2
Headphone: Output 3-4
If you must absolutely use your laptop speakers, take a look at this document:
