hi everyone,
i have recently bought the hercules rmx, and i naturally i am really enjoying working with it. i never installed the v dj program that came with the unit, as i installed the vdj pro, since many reports stated that the vdj pro was much better in many aspects. however, i have two problems so far with the setup:
1. despite the pdf file provided on this forum which explains the steps for mapping the 1-6 buttons with vdj 5 skin, i dont seem to have that skin, and i was wondering if theres a different way i could set up the effects (1-6) buttons. i should mention that buttons 1 and 4 function as loop-in and loop-out on both decks, but the other 4 are not mapped and therefore not functioning.
2. a great feature that in fact was one of the selling points of rmx for me against the numark omni control is the use of left jog wheel (while simultaneously holding the down button) to perform a fast track search. in v dj pro i dont seem to have this option available to me, or at least i dont know how to activate it. could someone please help with that as well? i would greatly appreciate it.

i have a pc running windows xp pro. sp3, 2gb of ram and 1.8gb processor

1) if you install virtualdj djc 5.2.2 (which you can download from virtualdj website if you registrer on http://www.virtualdj.com with the serial number sticked on the paper enveloppe of dj console rmx installation), virtualdj djc 5.2.2 installs the virtualdj skin which appears in the skin list as djc:rmx_win_1280.
it is not really different from the skin you can download on
http://www.virtualdj.com/addons/4554/hercules_rmx___steel.html
2) to add fast browsing on the rmx jog in virtualdj 6.0.1, go to virtualdj 6.0.1 mapper, and for the rmx commands, update the up and down commands as:
up: browser_scroll -1 & wheel_mode "browser" while_pressed
down: browser_scroll +1 & wheel_mode "browser" while_pressed

i am new but i am having the same problem with the jog wheel scrolling the browser. i had tried what you had suggested
update the up and down commands as:
up: browser_scroll -1 & wheel_mode "browser" while_pressed
down: browser_scroll +1 & wheel_mode "browser" while_pressed
but i get a syntex when i try to put "browser" in the line. it does not like the quotes.
what am i doing wrong.

please confirm that you have open the settings window and you are in the "mappers" tab.
and you have selected the "dj console rmx" device in the list box.
then you select the "up" button line and replace in the "action" edit box
(browser_scroll -1) by (browser_scroll -1 & wheel_mode "browser" while_pressed)
and on the "down" button line in the "action" edit box
(browser_scroll +1) by (browser_scroll +1 & wheel_mode "browser" while_pressed)
just copy/paste what is in the brackets directly in vdj. i just tried and it works fine.
i got the wheel to work for the browser...yea me! but now i cant turn the scratch button effect off. i would rather it bend the pitch. i have also lost the light on the switch as well. any suggestions as i am getting closer to a perfect setup...
i do have the same problem lasic. have you received any good suggestions to fix the effect buttons and jog wheel? the product is nice but difficult to setup or have all the features work as intended without taking any programing classes :).
ill appreciate if you can share any ideas with me on our similar problems.
