charge ipad when using dj air

hi guys,

i bought my son a hercules dj controller air for ipad. i connected it with my ipad 2 using the camera connection kit. evereything works fine but. the ipad isnt charging. not with the standard adapter nor with any other apple adapter i have (with a direct connection to the adapter it charges well)
does anyone has a solution?
is this a familiar problem

and ther seems to be a problem with the headphones in this set up. sometimes they dont work. they are connected tot the controller in the front input. the speakers are on the mix out? at the back.

and sorry for my english, im dutch, no native speaker.
