charging ipad when connected to dj instinct console

hi,
we are using a dj instinct console connected with the ipad using the cable supplied in the box.

everything is working great, but we are noticing that the ipad is not charging in this configuration. is this the expected behaviour or are we missing something?

Indeed, lightning to USB camera adapters do not power the iPad, so it is the expected behaviour.
The power supply powers DJControl Instinct via the Y USB cable, and not the iPad, but you can do long mixing sessions on your iPad if you set the backlight intensity to a reasonably low level.
