hi all, ive just had a phone call from a friend of mine who ownes a pub, if i could dj this weekend so i said yes

the question is this, ill be using my mackie amp & speakers in the main part of the bar. but want to connect the console to the pubs mixer aswell for the other bar (so they can control that part of the volume) & i can control the main room via the rmx console

what i mean is

in the pub theres 2 areras, the main room & then a lounge area

wire up the rmx cosole to the laptop & mackie amp & speakers in the main section & take the same sound from the console into a 2 chanell mixer with speaker selecter)

1 input is the sky sytem
2. aux input
& 2 buttons to control which speakers are on or off (main bar or the lounge)

so on friday (main bar will be off but lounge speakers will be on) & be able to switch it over to aux feed & have the volume quiet in the lounge but i would be able to still control the main volume whats comming out the macke speakers in the main section

if that makes sense, is that possible with the rmx console & what  would e need to do it? ive read the maunal what the console came with but still trying to get my head around it all

if i do it that way, will i lose the headphone monitoring & will i still be able to wire up my turntables aswell to the console? (got loads of promos, bootlegs & imports on 12" what i still use)

what i dont understand really is this part of the user guide

4 x ¼" jack mono out (+4dbu) for pro gear
4 rca mono out (-10dbv) for standard gear

this is the part whats confusing me

my mackie amp has 2 fat jack plug socket inputs & normal mixers have 2 rca inputs (red & white) for standard gear

so can somebody help please
forgot to mention the software ill be using is the version of vdj console ediution update to 5.23
cheers ?

ok after reading this a gillzilon times!! 🙂 i think i know what you want?

ok what your going to need is a mixer that slpits the channel 2 ways since the rmx does not? you said you have a 2ch mixer but it may have only one output? your going to need a mixer that has 2 outputs. usually has a master and a booth.
the master will go to your main room and the booth will go to your 2ndary room that way you can control the volume indipently...

cheers for that, after reading the post with a friend of mine, still cant fully understand it

i dont want to control the volume seprately. so it looks simple but after reading your post, i dont know now. if i cant they can just have footie on in the lounge lol

ill explain again as best i can

the mixer what the bar ownes is a vestax 4 chanell mixer((just 2 faders)) u press a button to get the second set of inputs (the sky sytem using input 1) , (cd player for daytime background music using input 2) & 2 inputs free) & a speaker selector switch to switch between the speakers in the lounge & main bar) built into the roof of both areas

ive got a 500 watt mackie amp & speakers (with 2 (1/4" inputs on it for feed input) so ill be using them with the console on speaker stands on a stage area (main lounge speakers in roof switched off as there only 100 watts)

phono lead comming out for the 3.5" red & white for standard equipment going in to the verstax mixer & that switched over to input 3  (for the sound coming out of the rmx console) & the speaker selecter behind the bar switched over to the lounge instead of the main room

that way i can have the master fader for volume on the console  full belt so we can get full volume from the mackie amp & speakers in the main part of the bar & the vestax mixer line 3 (with console pluged in using phono leads) at around 10% ( 10 watts) not 2 loud ((so they can just hear it))  so they dont have to adjust anything on the basic amp what feeds the speakers

what i meant
is that possible

it says in the maunal
that you have 4 (1/4") jack outs for pa & 4 3.5" rca (red & white) jacks out for standard

from reading the post, is it just a case of

2 (1/4" jacks plugs)going in to my mackie amp
& a phono lead into the mixer behind the bar?

but which outputs do i need to use tho? as theres 4 of each on the back of the console lol or does it not matter

as maunal states there mono, not streo

& why does it say in the manual that you can take the sound into a computer using a phono lead aswell as using a pa amp (i thought in my case its the same thing but with out using a computer

oput options

connecting speakers and an external mixer to your dj console rmx....................................8

with the included virtualdj software, the 4 mono rca connectors (outputs 1, 2, 3, 4) let you play your mix for the audience at the standard -10dbv level over a hi-fi system connected to outputs 1-2 on your dj console rmx, for example, and preview upcoming songs on your headphones or via outputs 3-4. the 4 mono ¼” unbalanced jack connectors (outputs 1, 2, 3, 4) let you play your mix for the audience at the professional +4dbu level over a pa system connected to outputs 1-2 on your dj console rmx, for example, and preview upcoming songs on your headphones or via outputs 3-4. this choice of outputs gives you the freedom to do more with your music. for example, you can: connect the ¼” jack outputs to a pa system to play the mix for the audience while simultaneously connecting the rca outputs to the audio line input on another computer to broadcast the mix online; or play deck a on outputs 1-2 and deck b on outputs 3-4 (with virtualdj 5 proor another application) and export the mix to an external mixer. - make sure that your computer and other audio equipment is switched off before connecting it. - connect your main set of speakers to the output 1-2 rca plugs (plug 1 corresponds to the left speaker, plug 2 to the right speaker) or to the output 1-2 ¼” jack plugs. - if you have a second set of speakers (monitoring speakers, for example), connect the speakers to the output 3-4 rca plugs (plug 3 corresponds to the left speaker, plug 4 to the right speaker) or to the output 3-4 ¼” jack plugs. you can also connect an external mixer to these plugs. your speakers and/or external mixer are now ready for use with your dj console rmx.

so if i upgrade to virtual dj 6.2 pro then i can

so from what your saying is you cant use both the 1/4" outputs at the same time as using the 3.5" rca phono sockets, you can only use 1 or the other ? or have i got that all wrong

i told it this is confusing me now

cheers
