im using my console remix as a sound card to send 1/4" signal to my m-audio bx8a monitors for all my windows sound needs.
unfortunately it seems that the controller has an internal mic passthrough so the mic always plays through the speakers. this is rather annoying because if i turn the mic gain up enough for people to hear me, i get nasty feedback.
is there a way to not have the mic playing out of the speakers?

Hello,

There is indeed a hardware microphone passthrough on DJConsole Rmx and if the microphone button is on, it plays on the speakers, but I don't understand your request: if you want the microphone to play out of the speakers, where do you want the microphone to play?

Please describe in which conditions you use your microphone:
- when you use it (as you turn the mic gain up enough for peole to hear you), where do you want it to play and where don't you want it to play?
- please precise your DJ software (name and version) as the DJ software may use some specific microphone settings.

A general remark on microphones: to reduce feedback while using microphones in front of speakers, you can use unidirectional microphones instead of omnidirectional microphones, as
- unidirectional microphones get the speakers feedback only when the microphones are directed to the loudspeakers,
- while omnidirectional microphones wider reception angle makes them receive unwillingly the feedback from loudspeakers.

Thank you. I am using the controller as my primary sound card on my desktopcomputer. I use the mic input for VOIP communication, like Skype and TeamSpeak.
I am using a DJ Console RMX in WDM for it to play any computer sounds or music through my M-Audio BX8a monitors. It is the only thing that I have that has 1/4" TS outputs. My mic is directional, but not very tight.

Turning the mic volume knob changes the signal level to the computer and recording software, but also increases the amount that it comes out the speakers. Pressing the Mic On/Off button makes it louder and causes bad ringing. I have improved things a little by turning down my monitors and turning up the system volume.  I know I'm using the controller in an unconventional manner, and was wondering if there was any way to completely disconnect the mic from the speakers (just have it send signal to the computer.

In the Rmx control panel, Advanced tab, for Hardware mix option, you wouldn't happen to have USB + Mic selected instead of the default by any chance ?

If this is the case, then yes, the microphone signal is sent directly to the main output.

That's it!! I thought that had to be enabled to use the mic at all. Thank you very much!
