hey guys,
just found this forum and looks like a good place to be! just looking for a bit of help with a problem im having.
got a dj console mk2 yesterday and have installed it on my macbook with virtual dj.
now, everytime i start vdj i get an "error in the sound driver" message.
i have uninstalled and reinstalled the hercules stuff again and again. reinstalled vdj. played about with the settings in midi setup. tried a different usb cable. tried the deleteing the aggregate device trick. everything i can think of really.
yet still, everytime i start vdj i get the same error.
i cant control anything within the software, but wierdly, if i select 2 seperate soundcards, i get full control, but no sound.
when i unplug the console and plug it back in everything stays lit for a few seconds, then it all turns off except a couple of the leds.
any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
thanks.
hello gav86,
i am not sure the issue is the same, but a similar error message occured in virtualdj 5 djc with the dj console rmx, and the issue came from mac os renaming the aggregate driver, and so the solution for you may consist in renaming the drivers hercules dj console mk2 aggregate for virtualdj 4 djc to detect it again.
1) plug dj console mk2 in the mac and let mac os detect it.
2) check the name of the audio drivers in mac os.
- click on apple logo > system preferences
- click on sound in system preferences
in the input panel, you should read:
- internal microphone
- line in
- hercules dj console mk2 (type usb)
- hercules dj console mk2 aggregate
=> if you see no hercules dj console mk2 aggregate device as sound input and output, your problem lays there: mac os has renamed this device into another aggregate device name, and the solution consists into renaming this device into hercules dj console mk2 aggregate.
3) rename the aggregate device into hercules dj console mk2 aggregate
- go in your applications folder, in utilities subfolder
- in audio midi setup, click on the audio menu (on the top bar) and click on open aggregate device editor
- click on the name of this aggregate device and rename it as hercules dj console mk2 aggregate
- click on done.
4) shut down your mac, reboot it with the dj console mk2 connected
=> when you run virtualdj 4 djc, it should no longer display the error message error in the sound driver.
