hello,
im currently using a dj console mk2, wich i like 🙂
but im thinking about upgrading to one of the new consoles of hercules (console steel vs rmx)
i searched the internet and forums like this one here, but could not find my answer:
with my console mk2 i plug my headphone for prelistening in the console, and use the x-fi pci soundcard in my pc to send it to the speakers: on the console u can switch your headphone to deck a, deck b, mix and split mode, i really like this 🙂
i was thinking about getting now the console steel 🙂 ofcourse, this one dont have internal soundcard, so cant plug in my headphone in that one.
** testing with my current console mk2, i cant configure the prelistening the way i want it, using not the internal soundcard of this mk2 (i do this like kinda simulation of the console steel)
so i used:
- 4.1 mode with the x-fi and plug headphone in the rear output, speakers front
- using x-fi for speakers and another onboard soundcard, x-fi speakers, onboard headphone, this also give me a little delay (so not good) between these to cards in what i hear.
concluding: headphone prelistening with those two posibilitys is not as good as using this in combination like i mostly do (see above) (deck a, deck b, mix, split wont work properly)
my question: will this be the seem with the console steel ?
why i would like to have the steel ?
- from what i read, improvement of the rmx
- looks much better 🙂
- all leds light up when active 🙂
hope someone can help me with this, and help me in my decision wich one to choose 🙂
the control steel is just a midi controler.. no sound will come out of it.. however, with a splitter cable, and asio drivers, you should be able to have your master output and monitoring coming out of your x-fi card as its supposed to be a 5.1 afaik.
on the other hand, the rmx includes a full blown sound interface with master output and monitoring ability. your xfi will become redundant and everything will be centralised in the hercules device.
