Are you using the latest driver version from the support site?
http://ts.hercules.com/eng/index.php?pg=view_files&gid=17&fid=62&pid=177&cid=1
Be sure to strictly follow these instructions:

Same for VDJ. Get the latest installer from their site.
Thank you again,I have the controler driver sorted.I got it and the VDJ second hand, the VDJ is registered,so I cant update for that.I could go for the free download, but I was hoping to do pre records of voice and music.I am n ot even sure I could do it with the version I had,the VDJ 3 console. Thanks again for the very fast replies and help.I am sure I will have more questions,,,jim
VDJ Home Free will only allow you to use a controller for 10 min, and the only other version that supports MIDI controller is Pro Full.
If you want a "free" alternative, you could give Mixxx a shot:
www.mixxx.org
For pre-recorded voice over, try audio editors like Audacity ( http://audacity.sourceforge.net) or Wavosaur ( http://www.wavosaur.com).

Yes I mailed them to say I had a second hand version,I got a reply to say I could get a discount on the pro..They would only charge me 206 Euro...beyond me at the moment.Yeah I have played around with mix a while ago,I cant rightly remember, but I think I could record voice and music...but what I found most difficult with that, was moving my songs from my library to the Mixxx Library...I will have another go with that....Thanks...Jim
