i want to preview my next song which is on the other deck on my headphones before mixing it with the song already playin. but my problem is that when i click play it plays up on the speaker.. im using virtual dj 5, the software that comes with the console.
also, can you tell me whats the use of the main volume, because it gets kind off confusing as it effects some song and not the other...if there is a main volume, whats thge point of the deck volume bars volume...

1) I suppose you have a DJ Console Rmx, then when you connect
- speakers on output 1-2,
- headphones on the headphones output (same channel as output 3-4),
then
- what you get in your speakers the result of the position of your crossfader between deck A and deck B,
- to preview in your headphones, you must set the Cue to Mix button on Cue and chose your deck with the Cue Select buttons.
2) It would be useful to precise your configuration
- DJ Controller,
- computer (Mac or PC, laptop or desktop, operating system),
- DJ Console Rmx drivers,
- version of VirtualDJ 5 (it may be VirtualDJ 5.2.2 DJC, or an earlier version as 5.1, 5.2.1 etc...).
3) The main volume fader sets the level on output 1-2:
- you set the volume of deck A (left deck) with Vol. Deck A fader
- you set the volume of deck B (right deck) with Vol. Deck B fader
- you mix deck A + deck B on the crossfader (full left = deck A, full right = deck B, between left & right = mixing)
- you set the output volume with the Vol. Main central fader.
4) You should read VirtualDJ 5 DJC manuel, is it on your installation CD?
