is there any existing issue using a lenovo x61 laptop with the hercules dj 4-mx?

i find it so strange that every time i use the 4-mx (with updated console drivers) with my x61, either with traktor (pro 2.5) or with virtual dj (pro 7), the music just comes to a halt and the 4-mx asio disconnects once i switch my powered speakers on. or when i first switch on my powered speaker before i launch everything else, nothing would work and id find that the 4-mx asio is disconnected in both traktor and virtual dj. but, with the powered speakers turned off, everything behaves nicely, except that, of course, it would be ridiculous to have all my mixing confined within my headphones.

i have tried using different wall outlets and im still getting the same issue. i may be wrong, but im beginning to think this is some sort of incompatibility with the lenovo x61 (or perhaps with certain laptops that include the x61) as i never experienced the the problem using my 4-mx with the same traktor and virtual dj versions as well as the same set of rca and usb cables on my desktop. otherwise, i may be missing or overlooking something. im also inclined to considering electric-related problems, but my lack of knowledge on electricity would make me totally clueless even more. would really appreciate your helpful inputs. below are the basic specs of both my lenovo x61 notebook and my desktop.

lenovo x61

- windows xp 32-bit sp3
- intel core 2 duo 2.0ghz
- 4gb ram
- whole system totally dedicated to just the hercules, traktor and virtual dj - no other application installed, no wi-fi/bluetooth/card reader/etc. drivers installed

my desktop

- windows xp 32-bit sp3
- intel dual core 2.5ghz
- 2gb ram
- basically an all-around home computer with things like ms office, various browsers and a few games installed

As far as i know there is no compatibility issue with any brand of Pc/Laptop.

What is the brand and model of the speakers.

What is your setup, what is connected to what and where.

Also tell me your VDJ Pro sound setup.

Thanks

Thanks for your response, TheCause. However, I can't exactly tell you my setup and connections in detail as I'm not home at the moment. I'll be back in a month.

As for the speakers, I'm using a "generic" pair of powered speakers assembled for me by a friend. The problem actually happens not just with those speakers but also when I get everything connected to my home mini-component via the aux in feature. But like I've said, the problem IS NON-EXISTENT when I use my desktop.

My Traktor configuration and console connection is exactly identical on both the Lenovo X61 and my desktop, but again, everything works perfectly on the desktop. So I am inclined to believe that my setup and connections are correct (they're pretty straightforward anyway so it's not really difficult to get it right). I can mix for long periods of time making use of everything Traktor Pro has to offer via the controller seamlessly - USING THE DESKTOP. But with the Lenovo X61, I never got the chance to even get started.

Have you tried installing and running the 4-Mx on a different USB port?

Thanks for your response, Jimmy B! Yes, I forgot to mention, I tried all 3 USB ports of my Lenovo X61 (and never through a hub) and went through the same problems.

Hello,

Have you disabled the Windows setting allowing the system to cut the power on the USB port ?
- Use an administrator account of Windows
- Right click on My Computer > Properties > Device Manager
- Develop USB controller paragraph
- Right click in the first line USB Root Hub and go to properties > tab Power Management > disable the check "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save energy"
- Repeat this last operation on all the USB ports on this computer.
