hi, first: hello everybody, good evening! as my user name may even refer to, im completely new in this topic. since my colleagues are switching to digital dj-ing im also think about it. so a colleague borrowed me his new hercules dj console rmx for a try out. please forgive my broken english.
im using a chiligreen platin se notebook which should become my "audio source" then. this chiligreen platin se notbook uses an intel celeron processor m743 (ulv 1.3 ghz, 1mb l2 cache, 800 mhz), 3gb ddr ram, toshiba 500gb, intel graphics media accelerator (gma) 4500m, 3x usb 2.0. audio interface is a realtek hd audio (lspci says: audio device: intel corp. 82801i (ich family) hd audio controller (rev03)) operating system: ubuntu 10.04 32-bit (must notice that im more a ubuntu user than a ubuntu/linux expert)
i downloaded" mixxx 1.8 from the original homepage by executing the 3 steps explained here http://www.mixxx.org/download.php#ubuntudlg ubuntu 10.04 (lucid):
open a terminal, and enter:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mixxxdevelopers/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install mixxx libportaudio2
additional i installed the libdjconsole via synaptic.
after a reboot i plugged in the hercules dj console rmx. then all the blue lighted buttons begin to flash like a christmas tree (lights go on and off). but this stops after about 20 seconds with the final status: no button lights on - all off.
when i start mixxx in ubuntu and open preferences i have following settings:
audio output: - master: hercules dj console rmx: usb audio (hw:1,0) channels 1-2 -
headphones: hda intel: alc 269 analog (hw:0,0) channels 3-4 -
sample rate (hz) 48000 -
sound api: alsa
for master i can choose: none, hda intel:alc 269 analog(hw:0,0), hercules dj console rmx: usb audio (hw:1,0), front, surround40, surround51, surround71, pulse, dmix, default
for headphones i can choose: none, hda intel:alc 269 analog(hw:0,0), hercules dj console rmx: usb audio (hw:1,0), front, surround40, surround51, surround71, pulse, dmix, default
latency: 21ms
hercules dj console rmx is not available via preferences->midi controllers. at midi through port-0, when i check enable" ... there is no midi controler to choose from, the drop-down list for output is greyed and its not possible to open the drop-down list. its fixed to 1. midi trough port-0
when i download the drivers for linux from technical support page here: http://ts.hercules.com/ger/index.php?pg=view_files&gid=17&fid=62&pid=215&cid=1
and i start to install the drivers i get also a error message, its not able to run hdjmod-dkms_1.28_all.deb -> it ends with a error message, so its also not possible to run the installation of the control panel
anyone an idea, whats going wrong here?
thank you in advance
regards,
the mixxx forum would have been a good place to start your investigation. you would have references to this:

the official hercules drivers will certainly be updated at some point in time to add support to recently released products, but for the moment , you have to rely on this users modifications.
