ho scaricato il traktor pro duo ma come faccio a configurare la consolle con esso?

The DJ Control MP3 e2 is natively supported by Virtual DJ Pro since version 6.03 (meaning that a basic mapping is provided so you can use the controller right away). You don't need to the install the LE version included with the console in order to use the PRO version, and all your currently installed effects will still be avilable.

As for controlling the effect, the provided mapping offer basic controls over the effects and samples, but this can be modified according to your needs (and imagination) using the VDJScript.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply. Good News on native support!

Another question on effects. You said that it offers basic control of effects. What do you mean by basic control. Is this just  activate on/off???

Samples - Does this have the ability to add samples tjhrough the controller or just effects? If Yes, how does it actually activate the sample? What controller buttons/knobs activate the samples?.

I looked at the VDJscript page that uou referenced, looks awfully complicated and I consider my self pretty tech savy. Is it easier than it reads to modify or control the effects. Not having the unit in front of me it is a little harder to understand but are these effects controlled by keyboard mappers or can you assign knobs on the controller to modify the effect, while the effect is activated. For example, If i have the Flanger effect activated can you map the "high" EQ knob to control the "volume" of the effect or the
"Mid" EQ to adjust the delay? If not, what knob or control would be available to adjust the effects or would I have to revert to the keyboard or Mouse control?

Thanks for your help!

DJ Chuck

Indeed, the basic mapping is fairly simple:

- In standard mode, Buttons 1 to 4 enable/disable Loops 1/2/4/8 beats

- In SHIFT mode, the same buttons  enable/disable 4 FX

The sampler fucntion is not enabled in this configuration.

I totally agree with you that the scripting is complicated compared to the MIDI mapping function of other softwares, but some users on the VDJ forum are pretty good at helping out beginners, and some examples given on the wiki site are pretty helpfull as well.

As you seem to want to work mostly with samples and fx, may I suggest an alternative ?

It it tempting to want a controller do many things but sometimes our ambitions take the best of us and configurations become nightmares, where it would be simpler to dedicate a controller for certain tasks.

Let's say you go for the MP3 e2 to control the main aspects of the software (navigation, EQ, etc), and then have another more appropriate for working the FX and samples. Here are 2 examples that are supported by VDJ

The Nano Kontrol Series:

Akai LPD 8

It's somethig to think about...

Thanks again for your reponse and your suggestions with the Nano Pad and  the Akai LPD8. It appears that Virtua DJ has native support for the NanoPad and they have a mapper that you can also download for the Akai.

Good suggestion but this brings up another question. Can you use the Mp3e2 controller together with either of these two effects pads. Any conflicts between these devices or the software (Traktor or VDJ Pro 6.0).

Any help or thoughts are appreciated. I'm getting ready to make the purchase, Credit card is out of the wallet!!!!

Conflicts are not something you can easely predict, but from the amount of people using multiple controllers, I wouldn't be to scared. I had a setup using 4 different ones at some point. It took some planning, but overall that worked prety well.

Just to be on the safe side, I always use each controllers on different MIDI channels, which you can usually change in the device control panel (this is the case for the MP3 e2 as well as the Krog and Akai).

Thanks again for quick response. I was on the VDJ Forum and saw a post that said that VDJ supports multiple contollers with version 5 and newer. I have 6.05 so i should be ok. It appears that the NanoPad may be a little easier to map. 12 pads, 12 samples  for example.

I am planning on buying the mp3 e2 this week and than the nano pad.

Thanks for your help! I'll let you know how I make out  after everything has been set up and working!

Looking forward to integrating all the cool toys!

Hello Chuck,

As you have VirtualDJ Pro, you can also modulate effects on DJ Control MP3 e2 controls in changing the map.

For example, if you want to modulate the effects mapped on buttons 5 to 8 on the jog wheels, you can change the DJ Control MP3 e2 map in the following way (go to Config > Mappers tab):
Update BUTTON5 action into effect 'flanger' active & set '$DJFX' while_pressed
Update BUTTON6 action into effect 'beatgrid' active & set 'DJFX' while_pressed
Update BUTTON7 action into effect 'FlippinDouble' active & set 'DJFX' while_pressed
Update BUTTON8 action into effect 'overloop' active & set 'DJFX' while_pressed
Update JOG action into jogwheel & var '$DJFX' ? effect slider : jogwheel
And with this map update, when you keep down the effect button you activate it, then turning the jog wheel changes the setting of the first slider of the effect.

Hi,
machine
Thanks for the latest info on setting up effect modulation using the jog wheeks. I'll give it a try as soon as I receive my unit.

It still appears that there is no way to program the samples to this unit. Correct????

If you know a way please advise.

Thanks

Chuck

Hi,
Ordered my hercules dj Controller mp3 e2 and also nanopad. received nanopad and having many problem getting it to map with VDJ 6.05. The default mapper is useless for setting up loops, effects and samples. Spent over 30 hours and all i could get was one sample to play and had no idea how i got this to work. It is a horror story. No tech support available from Korg or VDJ. You are basically on your own.

I need to get this to work with VDJ and the hercule dj controller or it will all be shipped back.

Does anyone have experience in setting up the nanopad to work with the latest versions of VDJ and the hercules DJ Controller Mp3 e2. I am having so many problems I do not know if it is the Korg Nanopad that is defactive of the software mapper. I Herd so many horror stories wth the nanopad that I am starting to believe that it is the Korg unit.

Personal Note:

This Digital DJ stuff is getting way to complicated. I'm spending way to much time on software issues rather than planning music mixes, which is really what it is all about. I think we are getting too "geekey" when all we really want to do is play good music with a few loops, effects and samples. the majority of  us mobile DJ's do not play house or trance or whatevr they call it this week. We play everthing  from oldies to  old school to Hip Hop and Top 40 and spend much of our time trying to blend in requests many various genres and age groups. We need simpler tools to deliver solid results. Maybe it is time to go back to the basics. Software is getting way to complex with too  many issues and  too many software conflicts between software and MIDI controllers  and mappers and scripts etc.

Hate to sound negative but I am almost dreadng to get my new Hercules Controller and having to deal with setting it up to work properly. getting skeptical about all these claims that it works right out of the box. I'll believe it when i see it. Herd the same thing about the nanopad and it has beena nightmare. I wastsed over a day and still nothing. I could have been spending the same time preparing the music for a couple weddings I have coming up. It would hae been more productive.

Warning to manufacturers - get yout products designed properly!!! Kepp it simple!!!!

Anybody have a basic easy to install solution or proceedure for the nanopad. It is a $40 toy that is costing me more than 10X that in frusrtartion trying to get it to work properly. Will the Hercules DJ contoller be the same problem.

Any experience or tips would be appreciated.

DJ Chuck
