i have recently bought a hercules rmx but i cannot get it to work with traktor, it works perfectly fine with vdj but not traktor, no matter what i do i cant figure it out, the soundcard works but none of the buttons/controls do anything and there is no light on the ctrl at the top of the screen. im not very good with computers so can anyone help (in laymans terms) please?
You can start by going to the support site and download the appropriate file for Traktor 2:
http://ts.hercules.com/eng/index.php?pg=view_files&gid=17&fid=62&pid=215&cid=5
Included with the MIDI profile is a document explaining how to configure Traktor to work with the Rmx.
Thanks for the reply, i have done this already several times, i have followed all instructions carefully but still cannot get it to control traktor, it's so frustrating because it works perfectly with virtual dj.
When people are having problems with Traktor, it's usually that little details were overlooked.
You've made sure that MIDI channel 1 is selected in the Advanced tab of the DJ control panel ?
You've enabled both In_port and Out_port in Controller manager ?
Have you tried the Rmx as a MIDI controller outside of Traktor, using the following procedure ?
Hello,
Can you check in your DJ Console Rmx control panel if your Rmx MIDI channel is set on 1, as needed?
You would get a more efficient help if you took into account the fact nobody sees your configuration so that:
- you describe your configuration (Mac or PC, which operating system, in detail, as Mac OS 10.7.0 32-bit or Windows 7 Service Pack 1 64-bit for example)
- your Traktor settings (writing you have followed the instructions without writing in detail what you did is useless. A forum is efficient for users who writes the technical information related to their issue for the forum readers and get technical help as feedback, but if you don't write the technical information related to the issue you meet, you should call the hot line instead, the hot line number for the UK 08450800942, from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
i have a hp pavillion dv6 with windows 7 64 bit, midi channel is set to 1, audio mode is set to asio and the buffer size is 480 (10 ms). in traktor audio setup audio device is set to hercules dj console rmx asio, in output routing monitor set to 3 & 4 and master is set to 1 & 2. input deck a is 1 & 2 and deck b is 3 & 4. controller manager device is set to dj console rmx generic midi, in port hercules dj console, out port hercules dj console. i have tried several tsi's downloaded from several different sites and still nothing is working, i don't think there is a problem with my console as it is brand new and works perfectly with vdj. i have also tried using it with deckadance club edition but when i try to activate hercules in port and out port i just get the message "error opening the midi port, the midi port may be in use by another program".
i have just tried using midi monitor and i got an error message and now whenever i try it i get a message in french saying "impossible de creer le fichier c:\windows\system32\winmm174.sys."
Right-click on the MIDI Monitor icon and select Run as Administrator to prevent this issue.
i have right clicked on the MIDI Monitor icon and selected run as administrator and i get the message "error when trying to open midi in device! the device is probably open by another aplication and cant be shared".
Make sure that only the program you want to use is lanched when trying to use MIDI. If other programs like VDJ or Traktor are still opened at the same time, you will get this error.
If that was not the case, then reboot the computer, and once done, connect the console and launch the MIDI test program.
i have tried this but i still get the same message.
If the problem persist over a restart, then this is something quite deep.
Are all components installed correctly ?
http://ts.hercules.com/faqs/eng/her_eng_00350.pdf
If everything appears to be correct , try this:
- Right-click on the Hercules MIDI components and select Uninstall
- In the window that appears, check the box Delete the driver software for this device , then click OK
- Once the uninstallation of the driver is complete, disconnect and reconnect the USB cable from the console. The MIDI components should be redetected and installed automatically.
- WHen the driver is reinstalled, use the MIDI test application.
i've done this and still the same message.
Hello,
Can you check in :
- Windows button > Settings > System > Device Manager
- Develop the group: Sound, video and game controllers
- Check if the line Hercules DJ Console Rmx MIDI is present, with no exclamation mark.
Given this was already checked.....
Do you have the possibility of trying the console on another computer ?
right, i have just installed traktor and hercules on a friends old brick of a laptop, configured it in exactly the same way as i have on mine and it worked fine so it's obviously a problem on my laptop, any ideas where to go from here?
Let me check a few things and get back to you about this.
Alright, we might need to do something a little elaborate to get to the bottom of things, but before we do , let's try something.
Would you happen to have a powered USB hub ?
Could you try connecting the Rmx to it instead of directly to the computer's usb port ? Someone reminded me of a few strange cases where using a powered hub solved some issues...
As well, when was the last time you updated your computer (windows updates, chipset drivers from the manufacturer's web site, etc) ?
i do have a powered usb hub but when i plug the rmx straight into it, the led's flash to say it has been plugged in but traktor doesn't pick it up and the dj console control panel icon still has a cross through it, i have also tried resetting the hub whilst plugged in and still nothing.
my computer updates itself every now and then but apart from that i never update it myself as i'm not brilliant with computers.
any more ideas on this one yet?
We're still looking at possible causes, but it is difficult to diagnose without actually the issue.
Not that it is any consolation, but it seems that others also experiencing this sort of problem:
P R O B L E M S O L V E D ! ! !
as i have had numerous programmes on my laptop eg. acid, fl, reason, cubase, ableton etc, a friend pointed out that one of these programmes might be to blame, leaving information behind after uninstalling, so i have performed a factory reset, which took over an hour to do and then a couple of hours setting my laptop up, reinstalling programmes i need but to my delight, after about 3 weeks of banging my head against a brick wall i finally have a working traktor/hercules setup
thankyou for your help and suggestions
