Hi,

It is possible to plug it in a wall socket, it is not necessary though.

The specs needed for the ac adapter can be found next to the power input.

Thanks for the reply.I would be using a rode condenser microphone which  I use with m-audio interface, through usb of laptop,to power the microphone. If I use the MK2 through another usb,do you know if that would be hard on the battery.I am only getting into all of this now,so dont know a lot about it..Thanks Jim.

Hi,

Why don't you use a powered USB hub instead which will not take any power from the Laptop.

Actually, the real question is:

Does you microphone require phantom power (+48v) to work (as most condenser microphones do)?

If so, then running the MK2 with or without a power supply won't make a difference since it does not provide phantom power to the microphone input. Only dynamic microphones can be used.

Thank you all for the replies...Yes the rode condenser mic would need 48 v...I use the microphone with an M-Audio interface.I sometimes use the outcables from the m audio to record on a zoom hd recorder..I am not sure if I took the outs from the m audio and connect to the mick slot on the laptop,if it would work? I didnt try,I only picked up a second hand controller this week,I am having problems with updating driver for the hercules.I have asked about this on another part of the forum

Which M-Audio interface are you using exactly?

If it has at least 2 stereo outputs, you could use it directly in your DJ software, and keeping the MK2 only as a controller.
