Hello DCDime,

1) What you call VDJ LE, is it VirtualDJ 5.2.2 DJC?

2) What is your ASIO setting on the Rmx?

Sorry my bad...I'm using the VDJ 6.0...it's the one that came with my rmx,but updated to whatever the newest version is. It's not the pro version. I have not changed any of the settings on the software at all. it would be at default. Everything was fine until yesterday. When a track is playing, it "skips" every  20-30 seconds.

Sorry I forgot to add I'm using my Laptop and have plenty of processer and ram. (duo 2.0x2, and 4gb ram). Vista and sp2

The version included with the Rmx is 5.2, and the latest update is 5.2.2.

As for what you can do to prevent skipping:

- Read the following document, which shows changes you can apply to your computer to improve its performances when using DJ/Audio applications.

- Before launching VDJ, go to the Rmx control panel (Close to the clock) , change the audio mode to ASIO. Then, in the ASIO tab, change the ASIO buffer size to 480(10 Ms). Use VDJ  for a while and see if this help. You can change the value (higher or lower ) until you find the perfect setting for your computer.

Thanx so much guys. it's back to normal now.

Glad to be part of the forum.

On a side note...can anyone tell me if the pro version of vdj is much better than the version that comes with? Is it worth buying or should i go to another program all together ?

Hello DCDime,

VirtualDJ Pro has more functions than VirtualDJ 5 DJC
- more skins, more resolutions, more functions
- more effects,
- automix,
- video mixing (in full screen)
- time code mixing,
- mappable on any MIDI controller.

If you like VirtualDJ 5 DJC Edition, you will like the pro version, and if you don't like the DJC Edition, you will not like the pro version.

The philosophy of VirtualDJ is to keep a reasonably simple user interface, so that you go in menus to find advanced functions (while Traktor exposes the settings so that it looks more complicated (and more professional for lovers of complexity).

The upgrade of VirtualDJ 5 DJC to VirtualDJ 6 Pro cost USD 149, which is affordable.

2 features which make VirtualDJ Pro very attractive
- until today, when you buy VirtualDJ n Pro, you get also the license for VirtualDJ n+1 Pro : I have bought VirtualDJ 3 Pro, and this license number has covered VirtualDJ 4 Pro, VirtualDJ 5 Pro and VirtualDJ 6 Pro: I don't know if it will last, but it is nicer than Traktor (I purchased Traktor 3 , and when Native Instruments released Traktor Pro, the upgrade to Traktor Pro cost euros 69)
- the time code support is included in VirtualDJ Pro (when you buy Traktor Pro, it doesn't include Traktor Scratch, and as Traktor Scratch is locked on Native Audio 8 DJ, after buying Traktor 3, if you want to mix on timecode, you must buy the upgrade to Traktor Scratch with the audio interface Audio 8 DJ for euros 499).

Okay. I got virtual DJ pro...the skipping/hiccuping is back. Has this happend to anyone else?  Could it be a firmware thing?  adjusted all the asio settings as suggested, but to no avail.

Any other suggestions?

Hello DCDIME,

1) Which version of VirtualDJ Pro do you use (is it 6.0.1, 6.0.2 or 6.0.3)?

2) Which version of DJ Console Rmx drivers do you use?

3) What are your ASIO setting?

4) As you have Vista, have you disabled the Wifi on your computer?
You can find how to optimize your computer on http://ts.hercules.com/includes/view_faq.php?id=364&d=2008-09-26&folder=eng .
Vista requires much more CPU ressources than Windows XP, so if your computer has Vista, you must optimize the configuration to compensate with Vista wasting you CPU (a 2 GHz Core Duo with 2 GB of RAM on Windows Vista goes as fast as a 1.2 GHz Pentium 4 with 1 GB of RAM on Windows XP).

5) Have you disabled the mode called safe mode in VirtualDJ Pro?
You must always disable this mode.
The check box "Safe Mode" to uncheck is in Config > Performances > Sound card.

6) Have you set the DJ Console Rmx in ASIO mode and, in VirtualDJ Pro > Config > Sound Setup, checked the setting "Apply Eq on external inputs" with DJConsole RMX as Sound card, and clickd on the Apply button (the OK button is not enough, you must click on Apply)?

The way to get solutions to a problem of settings on a computer is to describe completely the problems and the configuration.

Hi guys, I've been facing this intermitent skipping too. I have the RMX. I've done the optimizations written in this topic.(and the pdf file) I have a  Intel® Pentium® dual-core processor T2080 1.73 GHz with 2GB DDR2 RAM. I've updated the software to the latesc version. I've set the ASIO buffer size to ~30 Ms. This made it better but now I'm facing a latency problem between the beats and VDJ beat visualizer.(the visualizer seems to be delayed) If i change give ASIO buffer to a lower value it comes back to the skipping. A little help please. Thanks.

Try to descend the latency ms value until a bit before it starts glitching again. Depending on your computer you could get a really fast response (small delay) without having glitches in the sound.

Update and Optimize your computer for Audio.
Update your BIOS, Chip-set drivers, OS, drivers and software. Disable Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and dismantle any other external devices. Close background applications that you are not using. If you have windows with AERO disable that. Basically, do everything possible to optimize your computer for performance.

Follow up with more details regarding your software or let us know what made it better.
