the people having difficulties with vdj would have problems regardless .....due to using cracked versions , old versions ,
poorly configured hardware and software (usually there edition of windows isn't properly optimized for streaming media)

so they are not going to succeed regardless of the dj software ... in other words i think it's unfair to blame the problems on
vdj.....

i have 4 systems that all do video with multiple simultaneous hardware accelerated effects in 64 bit environments ...1 XP system, 1 Vista and 2 Windows 7 ......

you do not have to buy anything to enter the site or get help ......

Hello,

Mixing video requires a fast CPU (as Core 2 Duo or faster), a good motherboard (the motherboard in low cost Dell computers cannot be fast enough), a good graphic accelerator (with dedicated RAM, not with RAM shared with the CPU), tons of CPU RAM (that is why a 64-bit operating system is better, you can go over 4GB of RAM if you want), a fast access hard drive and the appropriate software codecs installed in the computer. If you plan to mix video on a PC where any of these conditions is not fulfilled, you cannot be happy with any real time video mix software.

Another detail in VirtualDJ is that many users install plugins and don't realize these plugins may slow down the software. The less plugins you install, the more secure you are: I don't mean you cannot install a plugin, but you must be aware it is risky, and it may drive to crashes. I remember a plugin which lets you display a text in the video window, it seemed simple, but it caused crashes.

Last but not least, DJ must ALWAYS disable WiFi, Bluetooth and such background tasks prior to mixing, as these tasks are greedy in CPU resources, otherwise it is logical the software freezes each time these background tasks wake up.

hey Max ... i agree with 95% of that ..... you do need to be careful with the plug ins ....

i use the text scroller  nearly nonstop plus the scroller that comes with FireText

plug in ....the old rule of thumb about no bluetooth however is disproved by me

at least ....i use bluetooth  to forward text messages from my phone to FireText

and then on to the video screen

i use the video cube , the sbdj text scroller , the FireText scroller and or slideshow ,

plus usually either shadow dancers dancing in the cube or clips from clipbank or

soniques ......

for audio efx i just use one vst plugin for eq

i use a 3rd party radio jingle app to drop samples , not the VDJ sample player

my controller is the RMX

So far i have the RMX installed on my Vista system and one of the Windows 7 systems

i could install easily on the W7 system , but the Vista system i sought tech support on the

phone the tech support was very friendly and knowledgeable and i got the RMX running in

Vista

you make an excellent point ......lost in all the bitchin' about problems the 64 bit

systems can be very powerful and utilize lots of ram ..... also now that i've been around

the block a bit with W7 i am liking it and i think it may be as good or better than XP ......
