i really need help with this guys, im havin a party at ma house on saturday and in desperate need, the music is coming through the headphones a tiny bit faster than the actual speakers, causing real problems when mixin in tracks, im using the rmx sound card and using it through virtual dj 6.01 on my macbook pro laptop?? would really appreciate some help guys ..x
hello spence94,
if you play both the mix and the preview on the audio built in the rmx, then the rmx plays both the mix and the preview at the same time.
but
- you get the sound in your ears instantly when previewing in headphones,
- while the mix you speakers play takes more time to reach you as the sound must travel in the air.
in standard dry air at 68° f (20°c), the sound played in speakers travels at a speed of 1,126 ft (343.2m) per second, so if your speakers are at 10 ft=3m, the sound of your mix reaches you with a delay of 10/1,126 = 8,88ms compared to the sound of your headphones (and it will be much longer if the sound from the speakers reflects against windows or mirrors).
the solution to avoid this latency is to place a speaker playing the mix close from you.
