hiya im hoping someone might be able to help me..i have just purchaced the hercules rmx console and am running it through virtual dj 5 i have only had it for approx 1 month and my left jog wheel has stopped working for some unknown reason.. i have gone into the hercules dj series control pannel and made sure that the jog wheels are set at default but still my left jog wheel looks like its stuck??..do you think i will have to send the console back to the supplier??..please help..
before sending it back, test the console as a midi controller as described in the following document:
http://ts.hercules.com/faqs/eng/her_eng_00353.pdf
if everything else but the left jog wheel is working, it is most certainly a hardware defect, and the console should be returned to the retailler for an exchange.
thanx for getting back to me dj phatso i have downloaded the midi monitor and gone through what was on the instructions and i do have movement on the left jog wheel, this is what is comming up when i rotate the wheel..
b0 2f 01 control change control 47 1 channel 1 (turning towards me 1 notch)
b0 2f 7f control change control 47 127 channel 1 (turning away from me 1 notch)
on my right jog wheel its saying
b0 30 01 control change gen.purp.1 l1 channel 1 (turning towards me 1 notch)
b0 30 7f control change gen.purp.1 l127 channel 1 (turning away from me 1 notch)
again i have fired up my software which is virtual dj 5 and again im getting now corrospondance from the jog wheel..
i hope you can help me as this is a nightmare for me..
many thanx..
since we now know that the hardware is working correctly, we can only conclude that its a problem with vdj.
i would suggest uninstalling and reinstalling vdj, preferably using the latest update (v5.2.2), which you can obtain from vdjs site ( if you dont have it already).
thanx again for getting back to me so soon..i have uninstalled everything to do with hercules and re-installed it and checked for latest updates and everything is up to date except that the left jog wheel is again not moving after i have done all this..as you mentioned earlier that my console is working and the midi monitor confirmed this i downloaded the trial version on the virtual dj v.6.0 to see if that would make any difference and unfortunately again the left jog wheel did not work with this software...do you think there is something wrong with my drivers??..
i look forward to getting to the bottom of this as its becoming a serious worry now?..
again thanx for your help means alot..
if its any consolation this is what happened..i was mixing at home (fortunately) and everything was working fine has been since i bought it month ago installation went through ok and everything was working fine only one slight prob..i found that every min or so i would hear a blip like a skip sound when i was using the console, i put this down to my memory as these are my comp spec:
microsoft windows xp
media center edition
version 2002
service pack 3
manufactered and supported by:
hp
intel(r)celeron(r) m cpu
4.20 @ 1.60ghz
1.60ghz 0.99gb of ram
i set the left deck on a 4 bar loop and was cueing with the left jog wheel to get a better beatmatch playing around really practising ect and then when i released the loop out i found that the jog wheel was sort of like stuck, not physically but onscreen and has been the same since..i just thought maybe this might help to as why this has happened...
hope to hear from you soon..
thanx..
cant say ive seen anything like that before...
unless the control panel doesnt indicate the real state of the left jog wheel ( but logically if that would be the case it wouldnt have worked in midi), i cant see how this could happen.
if you disable scratch mode in virtual dj, does it make a difference?

When the scratch is disabled it stays the same it looks onscreen when you move the left jog it's flickering from left to right but not moving if you know what i mean?
Gonna phone Technical support here in the UK to see if they would have any info on this mad problem..Also would like to say that i can scroll through the track when i'm physically doing it myself with the cursor on my laptop using the software hands on..Also when i use the quick scoll through tracks by holding down the down button and using the jog to scroll through, again that don't work..Right jog wheel is fine though..Iv'e even uninstalled and tryed it in a different usb port on my laptop and nothing..
I hope i can get to the bottom of this otherwise i think i'm gonna have to send for a new one?..
Thanx again for your help..
I'll look at a few things on my side , but I don't think you have a hardware problem. You might want to post something on the Virtual DJ forum. Maybe somebody there ran into a similar issues.
And you have tried changing back and forth the jogwheel settings in the control panel without any changes , correct?
Out of curiosity, you could also try some demo of the following DJ softwares that also support the Rmx, to see if you get similar results with the left jog wheel:
