hey community
firstly, any of you produce music on logic pro? i jut love producing as a topic and do it myself, so anyone else using logic can write to me anytime :d
secondly, i got a technical question: all of my tracks come out much quieter than all other tracks ive heard, since my tracks clip to hell if i make it as loud as other tracks. even when i do minor mastering/mixing, my tracks are quite quiet (no pun intended).
is there some hidden setting that boosts up my output volume without changing the in-song output settings?

Hello,

If you produce tracks at a volume below your expectations in Logic Pro, you can disable the Normalize option in the "Bounce regions in place menu".
You can see this option in Logic Pro user manual, at the page 256 of the pdf manual.

Hey Maxdjack 🙂
Thanks for the comment, but I actually always turn the normalize off (at least for my newest stuff).
Since I produce EDM (like about half of all the hobby producers out there :/) I'd like my songs to be pretty loud, about the volume of all the professionals so I can mix my own songs into all the other tracks. Mabye it is - as I assume it might be, but can't really believe - just a matter of EQing and compression?
I know close to nada in mastering, so mabye I should just get my lazy a$$ to learn it.
What kind of music do you produce?

Hello,

1) You may also check your adaptative limiter setting if you use Logic Pro 9, and Logic Pro X has more tools for compression and dynamics.
There is here an information on audio levels.

There are video lessons in Logic Pro X:
- A video on mastering EDM starts here,
- the part related to dynamic equalization is here.
- parallel compression is here.

2) I don't use Logic Pro, my MacBook is OK for Djing, but too limited for CPU intensive tasks, so for CPU intensive tasks, I use a tower PC operating in Windows 7 (with Cubase and Live). I have never produced EDM up to now, what I have produced up to now has been recording groups of classical music and of world music.

If you want to learn about Mastering, I would suggest this series of tutorials:
