im think about an upgrade in my laptop and im just wondering if someone could help me with it....

purpose: running live gigs with hercules console 4-mx + traktor pro 2.

at moment:
macbook pro 13" (mid 2009) c2duo 2.26ghz, 8gb ddr3 1333mhz, 320gb hdd.

upgrade:
macbook air 11,6" (new) i5 1.6ghz, 2gb ddr3 1333mhz, 64gb ssd.
plus: perhaps i will use an external storage device. (hd 500gb / usb 2.0).

questions:
with this upgrade could i running my gigs like a charm?
the 11 screen is to small to running traktor with 2 jogwheels layout, huge difference in comparison 13"macbooks pro? ill feel great difference in it, in point to regret this upgrade?
about hardware: the macbook air is more quickly and fast than macbook pro?

i really happy with my macbook pro, no issues related, running great, 100%. but, we have always to think about the future, and we are speaking about a machine of 2009 against a 2012 brand new model.

i hope all of you support me guys, thanks in advance.....cheers!!!

- mark
p.s: sending a big hug to my friend maxdjack from canada, this guy was freaking awesome supporting me. cheers

Hello Go MArk !

I think it could be a good choice, but going from a 13" (1280x800 native screen) to an 11" (1366x768 native) should be a little small to view, but you will have a better resolution in traktor.

I was mixing on a 13" MacBookPro before and when I go to a 15" (1440x900) resolution, i can't go back anymore.

You should go to a 13" MacBook Air for the 1440x900 screen, I will be more confortable.

But for a 11" or 13" MacBook Air, you will have better speed because :
- The Core i5 are really faster than the Core2Duo you have in your actual MacBook Pro
- The SSD drive are a big improvement to make the system really fast.

But for me, a 64Gb SSD is small.
If you plan to use your MAC only to Mix and Internet Stuff, It should be enough.

Hi Mark,

In my opinion, you should consider starting immediately with 4 GB RAM instead of 2 GB on a new Macbook.
Moving to a MacBook Air with only 2 GB of RAM may be frustrating when compared to your current 13" Macbook with 8 GB of RAM.
