i have managed to config traktor pro just as i want it minus a few things.. i cannot get the led mappings to work the same as in vdj... namely scratch/automix/folders/files/loada and load b - whatever i map them to they will not light..
has anyone managed to get these buttons to light up?

you can download the dj control mp3e2 mapping for traktor on the hercules tech support website here:

you should find how to map those leds inside.
and normally the led midi command received by the led is the same than the one sent by the button
so for example:
scratch button sent midi command: 9x 2d (x is for midi channel)
scratch led receive midi command: 9x 2d (x is for midi channel)
thanks but ive already got that - not a complete noob - i have read the manual... for some reason in traktor i cannot control the leds of the mentioned buttons.. no lights nothing..
i can however control the leds of the others without issue..

the dj control mp3 e2 is only natively supported by virtual dj 6.02 and superior. in vdj 5, you would need to create your own midi maping.
as for your external mixer, im not sure i understand your question...could you be more explicit about how does it relate to this thread and the mp3 e2?
have managed to get some of what i wanted working.. took a fair bit of trial and error.. still cant get the load a and b lights to show...
these mappings now have working scratch and automix leds.
and some new functions
automix +master temp press* 4 = set new track bpm
automix + deck jog a - set effect 1+2 amount deck a
automix + deck jog b - set effect 1+2 amount deck b
