so im running a herkules mk4 on a windows 8 laptop. everything is connected properly, but i am getting no sound of of my speakers. i have done reseach around the internet with no luck. it looks like when i open vdjle and thne go into the control panel, it is always on asio, but when its not open its not.
also, i was getting asio sound driver errors, but now those are fixed. i have no idea what the problem could be.
First off, you are using the latest driver (2013.HDJS.2) as well as the latest update for VDJ LE (v6.12)?
When you say you get no sound of your speakers, are they connected to Output 1-2 on the back of the Mk4 ?
The behavior you are seeing (switch to ASIO when launching VDJ, back to WDM upon closing) is perfectly normal. to learn about ASIO, I'd invite you to read the following document:
Hey DJ Phatso, I actually dont have the newest VDJ LE. I will update that now. I forgot to register my product on vdj.com so i just did that and will try again. But to answer your other question, yes, using the output 1-2. i will update now and re-post if im still having issues.
Thanks,
Rich
So i updated to the newest version of VDJ, as well as the most up to date drivers. When i start a song in VDJ I just get no sound..
Also, a lot of times when i go to open vdj, i just a windows error, attempted switch from dpc, and my computer restarts...
Unless you've installed another version of VDJ (like VDJ Home Free) with which you would have modified the audio configuration, VDJ LE can only use the audio interface of the Mk4, so sound should comes out of your speakers if connected to it.
However, are they amplified speakers ?
As for the Windows error you are getting, does it occur only if the Mk4 is connected to the computer?
Apply the following procedure to prevent the computer from rebooting, and note the exact error code:
http://pcsupport.about.com/od/tipstricks/f/automatic-restart.htm
I've made sure to uninstall every version of vdj and start fresh. I've also tired with amplified and non amplified speakers. And the error only happens when I have the mk4 connected. Ill review that link when I get home and try whatever it says there.
Ok so ive disables the restart on system failure. At this point im not getting any errors, just no sound coming out...So its got to be a configuration setting that is mesed up. I have no idea what it could be. Also, in VDJ when i goto configure i get no settings pop up, just something that says gbuy pro version..
Making sure the Audio mode is set to WDM, go to Windows Control > Sound, and make sure the Mk4 is the default payback device.
In the list, Right-click on Mk4, and from the menu, select Test.
Do you hear anything out of the speakers ?
Did you try both RCA and minijack connector with the same result?
Yeah I've done all that as well. I think it has to do with windows 8. I hate windows 8. This is super annoying. Djing off a desktop isn't fun.
Yeah I've done all that as well.
But does it work ? Can you get audio out of the MK4 outside of using VDJ ?
Without precise answers, I can't says if your device is defective or if this is a computer related problem.
BTW, The Mk4 is fully compatible with Windows 8,
Did Win 8 came preinstalled on this computer or is this an upgrade from Win 7?
Would you happen to have access to another you could test the MK4 to make sure if it works?
Sorry for being short. Responding from my phone at work. Yes there is sound when I play outside of vdj with the mk4 connected, and my mk4 works perfect on my windows 7 desktop. The laptop came with windows 8 installed. So that's why it's a configuration issue on my laptop I believe.
Since i think windows 8 configuration was my issue, plus i hate windows 8, i "downgraded" to windows 7 today. So i will reinstall all programs and drivers and try again tonight. If i cant get this MK4 to work im gonna scream lol...
