What do you mean exactly by +36% and reset the knob value?
Traktor and Virtual DJ Pro indeed allow you to modify the frequency range or the type of EQ used.
The bass knob on A/C deck is at +36% value in traktor n VJ, when on the controller its at half level ...
Then I would recommend testing the knob using the following method:

If indeed you see that he knob does not cover the entire range it should, then there is certainly a hardware problem and a replacement would be in order.
It does cover the entire range, but the half level value is +36% ! and sometimes it changes value without being touched !!
