ok, so ive just recieved the console, installed the drivers (latest version off the website not off the cd that came with), updated the console firmware, and installed djuice (again latest version).
the console is plugged into the usb on the pc (win7 64bit) but i am having major problems with the sound output (both master and headphones).
with the audio path set as follows:
master = hercules dj control air asio (outputs 1&2)
headphones = hercules dj control air asio (outputs 3&4)
i get nothing, no sound at all. i can load a track onto one of the decks and press play but nothing happens. the play button lights up as if the track is playing, but nothing happens in the software (apart from the play button lighting up on the screen), the waveform display doesnt move and nothing plays.
if i set the master to: speakers (2-dj control air) (outputs 1&2) then the track starts playing, but i have to use the output jack on the back to plug into the line in on the pc to listen to the playing track (which seems to result in an annoying ground loop type buzz).
however, whatever i set the headphones to; either speakers (2-dj control air) (outputs 3&4), or asio i get nothing from the headphones (plugged into the front of the mixer). ive tried monitoring either/both decks and using the cue and mix buttons on the front of the decks, but nothing. (yes i have checked the headphones and theyre ok).
strangely ive noticed that the cue/mix headphone knob on the software seems to reset back to 0 every time i press either the cue or mix buttons on the front of the mixer. the headphone +/- buttons on the front of the deck seem to have no effect on the cue/mix knob in the software, and even setting the volume manually using the mouse as mentioned it resets back to 0 whenever the cue or mix buttons are pressed on the console.
the manual (if you can call the 2 page pdf a manual) is useless and i cant seem to find an answer here on the forums.
any help please?
thanks.
g.
edit:
dont worry, i ended up uninstalling all my asio drivers and the djuice software, changed the decks from the add-in pci-xpress usb3 card to one of the pcs onboard usb2 sockets, re-installed drivers and software and everything now seems to work beautifully.
You can find a more elaborate manual and quick start guides on the support site:
http://ts.hercules.com/eng/index.php?pg=view_files&gid=17&fid=62&pid=287&cid=6
Now let's clear a few things
1) The + and - buttons on the front of the unit are hardware volume controls for the headphone output. They have interactions with the software's headphone volume (which it set to the center position by default).
2) The CUE and MIX buttons will bring the software CUE/MIX knob to either extreme position allowing you to choose what you are listening in the headphone:
- When in the CUE position, you will hear the deck for which the PFL (Headphone button on the controller) has been activated"
- When in the MIX position, you will hear what comes out of Output 1-2, according to the crossfader position.
- If you want to hear a bit of both (when preparing a track), simply put down the middle position using your mouse.
3) The console was conceived so that all you have to do is to connect speakers and headphone to the unit. The Software has also been preconfigured to use this configuration, but if you want to use your computer's soundcard, you will need to reassign the MASTER output to this soundcard, instead of the console's back connector.
EX:
Master = YOUR COMPUTER'S SOUNDCARD HERE
Headphones = Speakers DJ Control Air (Outputs 3&4)
Now regarding ASIO, it should indeed work, unless something is preventing it. I would like you to try the following:
1) Download the following software:
http://www.tropicalcoder.com/ASIOTestSigGen.htm
2) before launching the application,be sure that DJUCED or other applications susceptible of using the ASIO driver are closed.
3) Upon launching ASIOSinGen, configure as follow:
- Select ASIO driver:
Obviously choose the Console ASIO driver
- Select Device Output:
I would choose the headphone output (Output 3/4) since you can easily control the volume (be sure to to lower the volume before proceeding with the test).
Once this is done, click any of the wave or noise button which will send a short signal in the headphone. If you can hear the signal, then the ASIO driver is working correctly.
IF however you get an error message like:
Can't interface with an ASIO driver - Exiting!
then there may be a problem with the ASIO driver. I would suggest trying to reinstall the drivers.
I suspect that it was a driver issue (with another ASIO driver conflicting) or with a problem with the USB3 card in the PC (this being the most likely cause as I have a 3Tb Freecom drive connected to the same card that often fails to appear on boot and occasionally requires unplugging and re-connceting before explorer recognises it).
Anyway, as said, after a complete uninstall and re-install of all the ASIO drivers and a change of USB port the deck sprang into life and works perfectly.
Many thanks for the suggestions though.
