ok i know its been asked before because i searched and read the 2 post reply :p but with the new slush box 3 (sl3) serrato has a little edge with the ability to go "live" if need be? with the indipendent power supply. i know the rmx / mk ii does not have one, but they both have the male connector to use one? why is that if this is supposed to be a usb powered only controller? i love my rmx and use it by itself when i am at home or mixing on the net radio!! i use mine a sound card with external mixer. i just want the ability to go live if my computer takes a dump on me in the middle of a gig without having to disconnect wires from the rmx and then reconnecting them to my external mixer?
so can anyone answer this? like i said i want the rmx to be the complete aio and it doesnt have to be a stand alone if thats the case. just allow the sound to pass through when not using the computer.
let me put things in perspective.
you wouldnt expect your computers soundcard to work without having your computer turned on, correct?
now just imagine for a second that the maker of your computer decided not to integrate the soundcard into the computers case but rather have a long cable going from the main board so you could place your soundcard where ever you like on your desk. now, would you still expect the soundcard to work without the computer? probably not.
this principle applies to most usb soundcards, be it a cheap little device or a dj console. they are extensions of your computer.
now, if a manufacturer decides to adds some features so that their usb soundcard can also work in different ways , such as the sl3, it doesnt mean that all other usb soundcards on the maket have the necessary "plumbing" to do the same things. such is the case of the rmx and mk2. they were just not concieved to work without a computer.
