ok i have been having this issue for a long time and never complained about it but i think its about time i did :d
i have been experiencing sound level problems. meaning: the right deck is louded then the left deck? i have though it to be a mp3 sound quality issue but that is not the case when i have 2 songs with the same bit rate (320). its starting to annoy me and i was wondering if anyone else has had this issue? i have ajusted the sound level in vdj software but as always i have to have then uneven because the left side is lower then the right. i even changed the the wires on my cdjs and usb?
Hello Madman,
Which version of VirtualDJ do you use on which hardware?
- Do you mix MP3 files on a DJ Console Rmx?
- What do you use a CDJ for?
- Which model CDJ of CDJ don you use, where do you connect it?
- where do you connect which devices?

1) I use 6.0.2
2) Yes I do I use my RMX as the main mixer for my home studio because I want to record my audio / video mix
3) For time coding, I can use them in conjuction with the software so it mimics the use of Turntables/ CD players and controls the MP3 as if it were loaded in my player
4) I use the CDJ 800 MK II with Time Code CD and they connect into the RMX input Left 1/2 and Right 3/4
5) Umm... well if you don't know that? (scratches head) umm.... well read # 4 and the RMX connects to my laptop.
Anyone Have Idea's about MY issue??
Hello Madman,
I suppose the issue you meet comes from the fact the CDJ-800 Mk2 high output level saturates the audio inputs on the Rmx.
You should place between each CDJ-800 stereo output and the Rmx stereo input an attenuation device, which may be:
- headphones volume knob as

- headphones amplifiers, as http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/HA400.aspx
- music oriented attenuators, as SM Pro Audio patch range http://www.smproaudio.com/no_cache/produkte/monitor-controller.html?sword_list%5B%5D=attenuator
- attenuating pad as M-Audio MicroTrack 10dB Pad

Hmm Never heard of anyone doing this? Maybe if User the standard sound file insted of the pro sound file that might do the trick since you say its saturating the RMX sound input?.
Thanks anyways.
Hello Madman,
Pioneer CDJ have a very high output level (up to +24 dBu), to make the sound look more brilliant since some deejays and journalists believe loud output level means nice sound and low output level means bad sound. The work-around solution with entry level CDJ is to connect the headphones output instead of the line output, but for all models without headphones, you need an attenuator. When you connect a CDJ player on an analog DJ mixer, you can trim the CDJ output with the gain button, but on a sound card with no trim on the inputs, you must add a TRIM device.
If you want to check how loud the CDJ output is, you can connect it to the line input on your computer integrated sound card.
@Madman,
What grade of timecode mp3 file are you using from the VirtualDJ site?
You should be using the Pro grade sound level one (if you're not already), as this file compensates for the loud outputs of the Pioneer's
