rmx suddenly flashes leds, volume drops completely or sound effect start up
my hercules rmx is behaving since february very strange, suddenly without having nobody near, it will flash the leds, so some of the leds will light up, then it might play one of the preconfigured sound effects, or it drops the volume completely, or it might kill the bass.
when it drops the volume you will see in vdj that the volume has dropped to -32.5 db.
after you correct it, turning the volume up again, it will play on normally again for a while and suddenly repeat that behaviour and this happens very random.
first i thought that it was the laptop having issues, so i reinstalled the laptop completely, even changed usb cable but still it would do that. i use virtual dj pro with it.
but it is not related to vdj, as i have connected the rmx to the laptop without starting vdj and just watch what it would do after some time [30 minutes or more] and suddenly i noticed it flashed the leds the same way as when it causes the problem.
this is very annoying as it completly drops the volume while playing, or play a sound effect that does not even match at that moment. that it auto plays a sound effect i worry less, but dropping the volume is the worst.
i had contacted hercules support and they had given me the following to do:
check the power settings for your usb devices:
- open the device manager: click start/run and enter the following command: devmgmt.msc
- click the <+> sign to the left of universal serial bus controllers.
- double-click usb root hub and select the power management tab.
- uncheck allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
- validate your choice by clicking ok.
after you have made this change for all <usb root hub> entries, restart your computer.
actually all that was already done on the machine.
now i have a new laptop and it still does the same, so it must be the rmx. i have always used the latest firmware from hercules, so at the moment i have the latest driver installed and vdj 7.3 pro.

last weekend i re-imaged the laptop, but still randomly it will do it again. some days it does not happen, sometimes it happens only once a day, sometimes more then 3 times.
have you noticed this behaviour as well?
and what can i do about it?
the rmx is already out of warranty.
If i were you i would try and contact the technical support so they could troubleshoot the problem and maybe change the device for you, cause this does not sound good.
Also, have you tried a manual update of th firmware?
I have submitted today a new request to the Technical Support, so awaiting their answer.
I have not tried the manual update of the firmware yet, as that was more for if the device is complety dead. But I might give it a try, let's see first what TS answers.
Let me translate the Dutch e-mail I got from Hercules Support.
We want to inform you that this is a hardware issue of the console and it is not software related. Not even a reflash of the firmware will solve this, therefore you can exchange the product at your point of purchase with your receipt of purchase.
Thanks for your understanding and cooperation.

Well, it seems that I will need to purchase a new console as my console is already out of warranty and I don't think that the point of purchase will accept an exchange passed warranty.
