i am a brand new rmx 2 works flawless with my virutal latest verison software. but for some reason when i plug in my $600 shure balanced mic and i tried xlr and 1/4 cord i get a terriable drop out and sometimes staic. i changed channels on mic and then i plugged in a corded mic and same issues. what is going on? i brought this to 4 different weddings and same issue. i gave the mic to guest to make toast and the mic drop out bad and if i move the cord on the corded mic same issue. help!!!!!
Hello,
To get help on a technical issue with a microphone, you must precise
- the model(s) (reference) of microphone(s) you have used.
- In case you used wireless microphones, you mut precise the model reference for the receiver, and which output of the receiver you have used, in case your receiver has several outputs.
If you feel givoing so technical details is too complicated, you should connect your Rmx2 connected, have the microphone with you, and then you call Hercules technical support: phone numbers are here, if you are in the UK, the phone number is 08450800942.
Here is the Specs on the Mic, I also used a Wired mic as well. Should not make a difference if it is a wired or wireless, since both are having issues.
Specs Wireless Mic Shure Glx-D Just purchased works fine with other mixers (Just a note)
- Operating Range: 200 ft (60 m) line of sight (actual range depends on RF signal absorption, reflection and interference)
- Frequency Band: ISM 2400 – 2483.5 MHz
- Audio Range: 20 – 20,000 Hz (dependent on microphone type)
- Transmitter RF Output Power: 10 mW E.I.R.P. maximum (varies by region)
- Audio Output Connector: XLR and 1/4" (6.3 mm) unbalanced
- Maximum Output Level: O dBV (XLR/line), +8.5 dBV (1/4")
- Battery Life: Up to 16 hours
- Dynamic Range: 120 dB A-weighted
- System Distortion: 0.2% THD typical (ref. +/- 38 kHz deviation, 1 kHz tone)
- Operating Temperature Range: -18°C (0°F) to +57°C (135°F) Note: Battery characteristics may limit this range.
- Power Requirements: GLXD1, GLXD2: 3.7 V custom rechargeable lithium-ion battery
- GLXD4: 14–18 V DC at 550 mA, supplied by external power supply
Hello,
1) For what you call a static noise, I think it is a saturation.
If the output level is at the maximum mentionned in your post (Maximum Output Level: O dBV (XLR/line), +8.5 dBV (1/4")), then it is logicial you can get is a saturation on Rmx2 microphone input as this high level is a line output level instead of a microphone output level.
Can you set the gain (-20 to 40 dB in 1 dB steps according to Shure GLXD-4 user guide) between -10dB and 0dB, and check if you still get this noise?
2) Regarding the drop out issue, I think it is the talk-over attenuation.
This is just a setting on DJConsole Rmx2, you can set a talk-over attenuation level to reduce the music level when you activate the microphone On/Off button on the Rmx2, this talkover attenuation is set on DJConsole Rmx2 control panel.
- If you enable the talkover attenuation, you can set a music attenuation of 3dB, 6dB or 9dB.
- If you disable the attenuation level, the music level doesn't decrease when you activate the microphone On/Off button.
