have my rmx2 hooked up to a d630 laptop with xp. rmx2 updated itself when i installed the software... when i want to use the microphone and turn it on from the rmx2 its as if the gain is turned all the way up because i have hiss in the background and if i talk my voice is very loud.. but the volume knob for the mic is turned all the way down... if i turn it up just a little bit i get feedback so the gain is very high even with the knob turned all the way down.. in the rmx2 settings screen my volume is brought all the way down and still the mic is turned up when i turn it on from the rmx2.. is this a firmware issue or hardware issue if anyone has an idea? im thinking hardware because my results are the same outside of any program.

Hello Dpasterx,

1) What is your microphone (brand, model, type)?
Rmx2 microphone input is for balanced microphones. It supports multimedia microphones but it is better with music/balanced microphones.

2) Do you use a 1/4" mono plug?
Rmx2 microphone input is for for mono microphones.

I am using a Shure PG58 with an XLR cable but it doesn't seem to be the mic, I have the same issue with no mic plugged in.. I loaded a different laptop with a fresh XP install and that one does not pick anything up when I turn on the mic.. The complete opposite of my primary machine.. Tech support had me try a Midi Monitoring programming and there are 2 knobs which are not sending data, one is the mic volume knob.. Waiting for a response to see what else I can try.... Any suggestions?

Hello,

1) It would be easier to understand your post if you add line breaks from time to time between sentences, as it is difficult to read your post, and posts difficult to read are simply not read by 90% of forum visitors.

2) It is normal you don't get any MIDI feedback when turning the microphone volume knob as this knob changes the hardware volume on a built in preamplifier, it is not a software command, so it is not MIDI related.
But you should get a MIDI feedback when you activate/disable the Mic On/Off on the Rmx2: is your Mic On/Off button lit in blue on the Rmx2?

3) Please confirm if you listen to the microphone feedback on Rmx2 output 1-2 (RCA or XLR). The microphone talk-over function is not routed on the headphones/preview output (channel 3-4).

4) As usual, giving more technical information increases the chances to get efficient answers.
You should not only add line breaks to make your post readable, but also detail:
- your operating system (for example Windows 7 64-bit SP1) - It is good to add it in your profile (My Space > My Profile > Describe your equipment: computer, operating system, controller, speakers, ...)
- your Rmx2 configuration (in Rmx2 control panel, the About tab gives you Rmx2 configuration, as
Package 1.HDJA.2012
Firmware 1.19-16
Driver 1.73.0.0
DLL 0.4.0.0
CPL 1.0.1.3
- which software you use, and precise your audio settings in this software (if you add a software gain/attenuation on the microphone input, it has a makor impact, so if you don't write it, the forum cannot help you).

Hi DPMasterX.

Did you solved this microphone issue?

I´m having this exactly same problem.

The only way that I can make the mic work is routing trough input 1-2 and configuring the mic control in VirtualDJ. In this way I can turn down the mic volume on VirtualDJ to compensate the over volume that comes from the hardware input gain knob.

This is very annoying and could be better if the gain control was Midi.

If this console cannot be used as a standalone mixer, individual mic input make no sense, except in simple DJ softwares without input routing, IMHO.

Hello Gil,

What you describe is not a bug: it is the way VirtualDJ 7 software supports the micophone input on DJ Console Rmx2.

It is not a hardware issue, Rmx2 microphone input operates normally in ANY other software than VirtualDJ, but in VirtualDJ 7, Atomix Production has decided to disable the microphone HARDWARE mixing to replace it with a SOFTWARE mixing.

Hi, Maxdjack.
According to the Hercules Support my RMX2 has a hardware issue with the mic input. I sent a video and they addressed this problem.
The only software that I can use the mic input is in VDJ, because the mic input signal is too high even with the knob in the minimum. Only VDJ has mic input routed inside with a significant signal attenuation, but the Talkover dont work in this way. With the mic input routed inside I lost the aux input too. In my tests aux inputs dont work with shared mic input routed to input 1-2, so I have to choose between mic or aux ins.
If I could attenuate the mic input signal via Hercules control panel could be the solution for me and others having this same issue. I live in Brazil and bought this controller in USA. Send back to RMA because of this is something to think. But I have two warranty years to decide.

By the way, did you recommend MixVibes Cross with RMX2? I am thinking to buy it but the demo version don't let me configure midi controllers. The full version is much more cheaper than VirtualDJ Pro, even with the LE discount. About 1/3 of the price.

Sorry about my English. I'm not a native speaker.

Anyway, thanks for reply.

Hello Gil,

If you have provided enough information for Hercules tech support, I suppose they make no mistake in thinking it is a defectiveness, but if I were you, before any exchange process, I would prefer to make sure the technical issue comes from a real defectiveness, so taking 20 minutes to write the basic technical information
- the specifications of you dynamic microphone (model, brand,...),
- your computer configuration (computer brand and model, processor, operating system, 32-bit or 64-bit)
- your DJ software version,
is  necessary.

Gil,

For your second question, is MixVibes Cross range worth its price?
Yes, it is good and affordable, but considering how it compares to VirtualDJ Pro is just a matter of opinion.
If you want the main features you find in VirtualDJ Pro (timecode and video playback), then you need Cross (USD 99.99)+ Video plugin (USD 79.99), which is is not cheaper than upgrading from VDJ 7 LE to VDJ Pro.
If you need neither the timecode nor the video playback, then CrossDJ is a very affordable solution.

Well that's just fantastic. I have the exact same problem. Mic input gives a really loud HISSSSSSSS even when there is NO mic plugged in and VirtualDJ NOT running. Mic Volume is set to '0'...

So the problem is related to the RMX 2......... ???

Does it make a difference if you change the position of the Input type switches (Line In- Phono) on the back of the Rmx2?

Do you have audio sources (turntables, CDJ, iPod, etc) connected to the input on the back, which may not be properly grounded?

It seems like there is a constant feed of shhhhhhhhh on channels 3&4, that's where my doble cd player is connected to. Disconnected the RCA's, no change (huh?) in virtual dj I can actually see the SHHHHHH when I click aux and not play any CD/ have anything connected. So it seems like the distortion is coming from within the RMX 2 and is being amplified through the Mic in somehow (with NO mic connected)...really bummed out about this. Even turned everything off but the laptop and the RMX, keeps on going SHHHHHHH (well without sound now but I can see it in the graphs in Vdj)...

There is no midi mic volume control for the rmx 2 in Virtual dj (or I cannot find it?) so I cannot lower the input and so now the mic is unusable. Seems like the input volume of the Mic in is set way to high.

My karaoke kit blasts everybody out of the room even with the volume set to 0.....

Hello Tony,

Please check if

1) the input 3-4 switch is set on Line (and not on phono) on the rear panel of the Rmx2 ?

2) the input channel 1-2 is set on line and not on Mic on DJConsole Rmx2 control panel?

Max should the input channel 1-2 be set on line or mic? How does one access the volume control in VDJ pro 7?
