hello guys, this is my first post here and thanks for youre atention!!
i have the dj console rmx and i have a pair of m-audio bx8 d2 monitors and a focusrite scarlet 2i2 usb audio interface and im using traktor pro 2 for mixing on a macbook pro i7!!

reference site for the interface: http://www.focusrite.com/products/audio_interfaces/scarlett_2i2/images/

here are my issues!

if i connect the monitors directly to the console rmx on the middle trs output 1&2 it works fine and the deck cue also works fine, but i need to control the volume using the main volume knob on the console rmx, but if i want the monitors to play louder, i have to use the mac volume button and then you the the volume up or down sound from the mac, and thats not cool!

my question is, what can or should i do, to be able to use my audio interface monitor volume knob, as the volume controler for my master volume??

i hope i explained myself clearly and you guys understood me!! 🙂

let me know if you guys need to know anything else and thank you so much for your time and help!!

The simple answer would be that if you want to use the monitor volume knob of your Scarlett interface, then you would consequently need to connect your speakers to this interface...

...but then you run into another issue since the Scarlett is only a stereo out interface,  headphone preview is not possible.

You could combine both the Rmx and Scarlett into one Aggregate Device:

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3956

This may or may not work, as some components can sometimes be difficult. However, if it does work, you then end up with a 6 output audio device, and configure Traktor to use the main output of the Scarlet for the speakers and the headphone output of the Rmx.

Or you could simple add something like the Nano Patch+ between the Rmx and your speakers:

Or you

Thank you so much Phatso!! I'm going to try to aggregate now and if it doesn't work, i won't buy the Nano Patch+ because i think i would just send back my Scarlett and get a new interface with more outputs!!

If i had to get a new interface, wich one would you recomend to work well with Traktor and the Console RMX??
I like M-audio, Focusrite and Native Instruments..between these brands, if you could please specify one model from either brands wich will be perfect for my usage with Traktor + Console RMX + using the interface to control the volume and also, if i go play in a club, and the club let's say would use a RCA output for me to connect my interface so i can use the Console RMX to play!!

Thanks a lot!! 🙂

Hello!! I just tried to aggregate the Scarllet with the Console RMX then in Traktor!! I got the my monitors directly connect to the interface and have the Console RMX connected to the MAC!! Then in Traktor, i set the Scarlet as my "Audio Device" and then i goto "Output Routing" and i set up "Output Master" as "Output 1 and 2" and then when i need to select the "Output Monitor" it only lets me to use again "Output 1 and 2".. There isn't any "Output 3 and 4" to choose from so i can use the "monitor" to preview the track!! That will only work if i connect the Monitor speakers directly into the Console RMX, but then again, i'm not able to control the volume of the the Monitor Speakers, through the interface volume knob! 🙁

Is there somthing i'm doing wrong??

Thanks again! 🙂

As mentionned in the Aggregate device procedure, the goal is to create a new device that combine the ins and outs of all your audio interfaces.  You then need to select this newly created device in Traktor in order to use it.

Ok, i think i got it to work now!! Here is what i did in Traktor's config:

Audio device i put "DJ Console RMX Aggregated"

Here is how i aggregated in the Audio MIDI Setup:

and this is how i set it up in Traktor "Output Routing":

I don't know why or if the names labels on the "Output Master or Output Monitor" are correct, but i'am now able to control the volume of the monitors on the audio interface!! In the beguining i was getting some weird noise when i was previewing the track in the "Cue Select" using my headphones, but it stoped after i restarted Traktor!!

My only question left now is, what does the Clock setting mean and what does the Resample mean in the Audio Midi Setup ??

Thank you so much Phatso!!

Thank so much Phatso, now i understand what it means and how the aggregation works!! You're a life saver!! 🙂

Let me just ask you 2 more questions, first, what is the most common inputs in a club?? like to connect to the DJ Console RMX or to my audio interface?? and the second question is, what is a good audio interface for me to have if im gonna play in a club using the Console RMX and Traktor???  or if i'm just better off directly connecting everything to the Console RMX outputs??

Thanks again amigo!! 🙂
