hi all,
newbie here. sorry if i am repeating a thread but after a quick search i couldnt find anything on this topic...
i am looking to get my first midi controller and have settled on a hercules steel. the only thing is now i am stuck on which soundcard to get! i dont want to spend a fortune as the setup is more for fun that anything else. i will be running it off a 15" macbook pro with traktor pro. £70 is pretty much my price limit and i dont really have any idea of what makes a good usb sound card so any help would be greatly appreciated!!
cheers
Here is a selection of soundcards adequate for DJing, and for every budgets:
Thanks for the quick reply Phatso, would you recommend the numark stereo IO as a low end sound card to go with?
Get Audio 2 DJ ...sound quality is proof it 🙂
Hello, Im going thru the same scenario, is that all I need to get going?, is an audio interface the same thing? and if not, do I need one? please help Im new to this,... cool!!! the fedEx guy just got here!!..., so yea please help (:
Hello Juzu,
It depends of what you want to do.
- to mix at home on multimedia speakers, a basic multimedia sound card can be enough, as Hercules Muse Pocket Lt 3,
- to play your computer mix on public address speakers, a 4-channel out DJ sound card as Native Audio2DJ or Numark DJ IO is OK,
- to mix external DJ sources (turntables or CD players) with the sound tracks of your computer, then you may need audio interfaces with 4-channel inputs and outputs, as Hercules DeeJay TRIM 4&6, Native Audio4DJ or Vestax VAI 80.
- to scratch with time code vinyle discs or CDs, then you must check first which time code software you want to use as some time code DJ software as Traktor Scratch Pro, or Serato Scratch Live include the audio interface. If the software you use for time code mixing is VirtualDJ Pro, then VirtualDJ time code control is open to any audio interface.
Thanks for the info Maxdjack,
