hi everyone,

i am having a hard time trying to figure out how should i map the filter for deck a, b in traktor?  ive learnt how to do a basic mapping, understand basic modifier (i think).  here is what i have it set up ...

scratch toggle on/off to turn on off filter, amount of filter map to my cross fader (i dont use cross fader for mixing), then i map shift + hold down button 5/11 to turn on deck a.  all i need is to hold down button5/11 and move the cross fader to use filter.

i believe there gotta be a better, more simpler way to map these filter funtion.  anyone can share ideas?

thank you everyone!   kam

Are you refering to the individual deck Filters or the Filters as FX ?

- The individual deck Filters (Add-In > Mixer > Filter) only have two settings: On/Off and the filter amount.

These might be more handy as they are mapped to each decks and can be part of the basic mapping.

- The filters as FX (in Group mode) have 3 settings if you count the FX assigment to a specific deck.

They are more flexible since you have many types of filters and they can be assigned in a variety of ways, which in turn can complicate your mapping.

Hi DJ Phatso, I was refering to the individual deck filter.  What button would you assign the filter on/off to on the 4mx that would not conflict with other functions that already assigned to that knob?  I am currently using the mapping from hercules website with traktor pro.  I can't think of one ...   any advice pls.

thank you once again for your time!  Kam

This is where you need to figure out what you really need and what you don't. The more functions you try to assing to the same controls, the more complicated the mapping becomes.

Depending on how you use the filter, there are many possibilities to keep thigns simple. Here is one suggestion.

- With the FX button in SHIFT mode, delete the CUE point assignment for button 11 (you already have 4 Cue points available).

-  Reassing this button to Filter On/Off for Deck A. Either set it as a Hold or toggle if you want to keep the Filter On while doing other things.

- You could still use the crossfader for the Filter amount control, but if you plan on using that for all decks, then you would need to involve some modifier. You could also be using the pressed down Jog wheel ( since you don't seems to be scratching anyway), or the FX section encoder (Ctrl). Again, Modifiers will need to be involved.

Another solution would be to use another controller like the Korg Nano series for additional uses...
