They are quite different, and not unlike the debate between PC and MAC, they both have detractors and supporters.

I think the best thing to do is to download the demo and make your own opinion. You can find a basic MIDI setup file and configuration document on the support site:

Thanks for the advice. I install Traktor and imported the MIDI file. So what is happening is that some of the controls (ie. EQ Hi, Med, Low) are not assigned properly. When I look at the PDF the assignments are correct. However, the EQ Hi knob controls the Effect Amount Knob instead. The EQ kill buttons work. I can't get the knobs to work. And that's one example. How can you change this? It's not clear in the documents I have.

If you look at the document again, you will notice that when the BALANCE knob is set at the minimum position, the EQ are indeed used to control the effects (the 2 Beat Lock buttons will also be lit up).

Move the BALANCE knob out of that position, and the EQ will then take their normal functions.

after fiddling with it, it's working fine (mostly). however I like the features and functionality of traktor over VDJ. For me easier to navigate my tracks in TP (I don't need a mouse or my track pad like in VDJ). Visually it's easier to scan and see what's going on. While VDJ looks like a high-school project and has too many panels that require some effort to move between. I'm a user interface designer by day... so I'm pretty picky about certain things regarding software design. But it is obvious TP was built with their preferred devices in mind (ie. S4) and the RMX doesn't stack up in that regard. Traktor gets my vote.

I have to agree.Laughing

What you learn after you spend the money. the Rmx 'nice' controller. VDJ crappy piece of software. Traktor Pro awesome. However you can't get Rmx to work with TPRO consistently. All the controls are mapped correctly. But I'll be lucky to get the EQ dials to work everytime I launch it. The effect buttons don't work either. It's very frustrating. Any tips on to remedy this?

I'm close to ditching the Rmx and get a controller that works properly with Traktor.
