is it possible to use the rmx 2 soundcard as default soundcard for an imac (osx mavericks)?

i have the latest drivers (4.69) installed already, but when i select "djconsole rmx2" as device for sound output in system prefs, i get this message: "the selected device has no output controls".

im not sure but i thought that this worked before when i used mountain lion with rmx 1.

thanks in advance!

This is perfectly normal. All adjustments for the Rmx2 are to be done from the DJ Control panel (the icon should be on your desktop).

Advanced configuration can also be done from Audio/MIDI Setup (Applications > Utilities)

Thanks! That solved the problem!
Changing Audio/MIDI setup did the trick!

I have a DJ control panel but that one keeps freezing when I change some settings, and most of the time everything is greyed out after startup. So the DJ control panel is pretty useless for me...
I tried to remove and reinstall the driver but that didn't make any difference at all.

One more question (or do I have to make a new topic for it?)
What is the RCA output 3-4 used for? I cannot get any sound out of it. Is it only for an external mixer, or what?

Thanks very much for your help, really appreciate it!

Indeed, there seems to be some issues with the control panel under Mavericks' latest update. Thnaks for the heads up on that one. I'll report it to the DEV team, although I'm pretty sure it,s probably someting they've already fixed in the upcoming driver update.

Output 3-4 and the Headphone output receive exactly the same signal, and which one you'll use will depend on the type of configuration:

- In Internal mixing mode (i.e. you are using the mixing capability of the DJ software) you main mix is sent to Ouput 1-2 and you are using the headphones connected to the Rmx2. In this case, you would not use RCA output 3-4

-  In External mixing mode,  the DJ software sends the audio of each deck (usually deck A on Output 1-2 and Deck B on Output 3-4 to a hardware mixer, to which you would connect your headphone (not to the Rmx2).

Consequently, your software audio configuration has to reflect the setup you want to use.

Thanks for reporting the control panel issues to the DEV team!
But for now, changing settings in Audio/MIDI setup will do for me.

From now on I will use the RMX2 as default soundcard on Mac cause the RCA 1-2 output is plugged into my receiver.
My headphone is still plugged into the RMX2 and when I want to use that instead of the receiver I change Audio/MIDI settings like this:

Right-click DJConsole Rmx2 - Use this device for sound output
This way your Mac uses the RMX2 as default soundcard.
Right-click DJConsole Rmx2 - Configure speakers... - Changing D1+D2 to D3+D4
This way you can use your headphone.

Hope this will help other folks! πŸ˜‰

Thanks again! This is a great forum by the way!!

There is actually a workaround to use the control panel:

In Audio/MIDI SETUP, go to Window > Show MIDI Window. You should notice a component called USB MIDI Device.

- Turn Off the console. The icon should then be displayed as inactive (Greyed out)

- Click on the icon to select it, then click Remove Device. The icon should disappear.

- Close Audio MIDI Setup, and turn On the Rmx2. The control panel should now be accessible.
