i recently purchased hercules dj console rmx (included was the free virtual dj 5 software).
i also purchased a hp-laptop with intel pentium dual -core processor t4200 (processor speed 2.0ghz & hard drive size 320gb) with the microsoft windows vista home premium edition operating system.
there will be times that when i load a song into a deck, my computer screen freezes up and i get a message stating that virtual dj not responding. i am totally screwed because the only way to unfreeze the computer screen is to restart the computer.
do you think this happens because of having windows vista home premuim operating system, or maybe i need to upgrade my software???
please help me and if you can give me any suggestions on what i can purchase that would work with my hp-laptop and hercules rmx controller...thank you so much! dj jogie!
Hello DJ Jogie,
1) If your version of VirtualDJ is not VirtualDJ 5.2.2 DJC Edition, you need to update (but not upgrade) your software to VirtualDJ 5.2.2 DJC. You must go to VirtualDJ ( http://www.virtualdj.com ) website, register with your VirtualDJ serial number account and you can download the update.
2) You must also optimize your computer settings to save CPU power as Vista wastes the power of your CPU in background tasks which convert Vista into a bad experience.
- Make sure the power supply of your computer in connected (if you disconnect your power supply, your computer CPU is no longer running at 2 GHz but much slower).
- Switch off the wifi (the wifi scanning can freeze all CPU intensive tasks as DJ mixing)
and in general follow the recommendations of the guide to optimization you can find on http://ts.hercules.com/includes/view_faq.php?id=364&d=2008-09-26&folder=eng .
