wow... i have played clubs with 1200 poeple with that kind of power. for 80 poeple you could use active speakers with built-in amps (400 to 600w) would be fine. or buy a amp 2x600 w at 4 ohm and speakers of 800w to 1000w should be fine even for twice that amount of poeple. then you use the rca or the amp jacks to plug it all together. have a great party

thanks for your advice!
i went to a renting firm and i had the impression they wanted to rent me away to heavy machine.
how about this one: http://cgi.benl.ebay.be/ws/ebayisapi.dll?viewitem&sspagename=strk:mewax:it&item=330313034074
will one do, or do i get two?

while i cannot vouch for those specific speakers or the brand (which ive never heard of), i believe this would be a good direction for you, and serve you well.

you certainly could use just one, but you cannot get stereo unless you have two of them.  id recommend two powered speakers, similar to those you showed, but i would likely look for a "brand name" speaker, which will probably cost more.

you can get cables that will link the 1/4" outputs from the rmx to the xlr inputs on powered speakers.

i know this is an old post, but id like to add that i always ret speakers for parties and gigs.

usually i get mackies (self powered) , i live in fl, so prices may be way diff, but i can get a pair for $50 a day.
