Hi veryone,

I bought a Inpulse 200 MK 2 (second hand, but it was like brand new) and it used to work fine for a few months, till it stoped being detected by my Mac nor my Windows PC. When I plug the USB cable it lights up, starts the demo mode but in the device manager nothing happens nor you hear the sound of connecting a device (in Windows). I tried to open the firmware updater but since the computer won't detect the device it simply never appears. Same for the control panel. It's like it doesn't exist.

I just paid 45€ for it second hand, but it's a shame it just lasted maybe 2-3 months. And it was working fine when I got it (in its box with, it literaly looked brand new), but as said after 2-3 months without any single issue, fall nor anything out of the ordinary it simply stopped being detected by the computer, becoming useless. When it started failing, moving the USB cable on the USB port would do the trick sometimes, but any minimal movement would make it disconect. Now, it never works, no matter which port I try nor if I slightly move the USB.

It seems it gets energy from the USB port since the demo mode shows up and works, but because it's not being detected I cannot use it nor update the firmware.

BTW: In case you're wondering I do have the drivers installed both on Mac and Windows.

Should I trash it? or is there any other thing I could try?

Sounds like your problem is linked to the USB cable, which lets power through but not the data necessary for the computer to use it.

If you are handy, you could try opening it up and wire a new USB cable.

Thank you, I opened it just to check if the USB cables were where they were suposed to be. I couldn't see any problem with the soldering and they were on their place thanks to the glueish thing keeping them attached to the mainboard. All 4/5 cables  (can't recall how many they were) looked fine. So I guess the issue is through the cable or in the cable header.

TBH for what I paid for it I'll just throw it away. It was a nice thing to play around but I wasn't 100% happy with it either, the jogwheels sensibility was very poor, lacking a proper high/med/low EQ knobs was also a pain (had to map gain as high just to get full control and gain doesn't has the middle mark you can feel, plus the knob is smaller), and I quickly missed more pads, and better tactile response on them. As said, for the price I got it I won't complain (other than it lasted a few months before dying), but I was already thinking of upgrading to a better controller, after seeing I enjoyed using this one despite being quite limited.

Thanks for taking the time to reply anyways 🙂

Hello Ataliano,

If you felt a poor sensibility on jog wheels, please confirm you have connect the Inpulse 200 MK2 directly to a USB port, or with a good USB C adapter (not us €5 USB C adapter).

If your controller is connected by a too poor USB-C adapter, it may be the cause of your problem on DJC Inpulse 200 MK2, since the jog touch detection sensibility should have been OK when the computer was connected to the wall power outlet, and a low sensibility may mean the USB-C adapter was loosing its ground.

DJC Inpulse 200 MK2 is an affordable controller, but the jog wheels touch detection should be OK if the computer have a proper grounding.

The size of the gain cap and the lack of centre detent are not related to the price of the DJ controller: a majority of expensive DJ controllers have no center detent on gain, and many DJ controllers, even over € 1,000, have smaller caps on gain as

- a smaller cap helps the DJ to differentiate gain control and EQ control when performing in clubs low light conditions,

- when using software autogain, the centre position of the gain knob does not fit with the 'no gain' position.
