DjControl GLOW not working in macOS Sequoia 15.2

  • MacBook Air M3 2024, macOS Sequoia 15.2

  • DJUCED version 6.1.1

  • DJSeriesInstall 6.51s

DJUCED works fine with the mouse and keyboard, but the program doesn't respond to the DJ controller.

http://hardwaretester.com/midi and Audio MIDI Setup detect the controller but don't respond either.

Just to clarify: I'm using the original USB cable (USB Type B to USB Type A), but I'm connecting it to my MacBook via a USB Type C hub.

What could be the problem?

The drivers, the privacy and security settings in macOS, the USB hub,...?

Are there actually drivers available for DJControl Glow for macOS 15.x? The website https://support.hercules.com/en/product/djcontrolglow-en/ says there are, but when I open the driver install package, it seems like there aren't...

Hello Zeus,

Welcome to the community area.

Did you use Google Chrome  as internet browser (as Safari does not supports MIDI)?
I have tested on https://www.midimonitor.com/ in Google Chrome and it works in Google Chrome operating in Sequoia, and DJControl Glow was sending MIDI commands.

I have just seen a test
- on macBook Pro 2023 (CPU M2 Pro) with Sequoia 15.1.1,
- in Djuced 6.1.1,
- with DJControl Glow using driver pack DJSeries 6.51s
and it works.

Dear UX Team,

I just tried midi monitor in combination with Google Chrome and the controller didn't send any commands when pressing any of its buttons.

However, after installing the DJSeries 6.51s driver pack and Djuced 6.1.1, I connected the DJControl GLOW to the USB Type A port of a Mac mini M1 2020 running Sequoia 15.1, and everything worked perfectly.

Could the USB hub (4x USB Type A to USB Type C, without an external power supply) possibly be the cause?

Here’s a picture of the USB hub I’m currently using. In the meantime, I’ve ordered a USB Type B to USB Type C 2.0 cable, but I haven’t received it yet.

I nearly forgot to mention: when using the USB hub and connecting the controller to the USB Type C port on the 2020 Mac mini M1 (Sequoia 15.1), it doesn’t work. It only functions when connected directly (without the hub) to a USB Type A port.

Did you (UX Team) successfully get the controller working with a USB Type C or Type A port on the MacBook Pro M2 2023? I assume you used a Type C port, since that MacBook doesn’t have any Type A ports.

Did you connect the controller directly (using a USB Type B to USB Type C cable), with an adapter (USB Type A to USB Type C), or through a hub?

Thank you in advance.

Hello Zeus,

The DJControl Glow is connected to the Mac with a USB-C adapter.

The USB-C to USB-A adapter is a Nimaso USB-C to USB-A.

Regarding the USB hub you have tried, having no dedicated power adapter may cause your non-detection issue: DJControl Glow power consumption is lower than most USB audio device, but it is still a high power consumption compared to USB key or USB keyboard.

@UX TEAM

Thanks for the update (and the pic of your setup)!

I gave it another shot with a USB Type A (female) to USB Type C (male) adapter, and the controller is now working flawlessly on a MacBook Air M3 2024 with macOS Sequoia 15.2 and DJUCED version 6.1.1.

I’ll share another update as soon as I get the USB Type B to USB Type C cable.

Appreciate the help!

The same goes for the USB Type B to USB Type C cable, which works flawlessly.

The culprit was entirely the USB hub.
