hello folks,

i have noticied a problem with my console 4-mx. sometimes i start djing normally and after 20 - 30min. the sounds change and become poor, distorced, horrible...the console still playing and traktor working as well, but problem of poor sound....(like old and damaged woofer, complete distorced).

important points:

- running with tracktor pro 2
- latest firmware updated by pressing and hold the buttons for this option (hold load track a and b....).
- win 7 ultimate
- sound system ok, sound box ok
- cpu meter on tracktor normally (down-working)
- core i3 -350m, 4gb, 500hd
- master/gain set up at half.
- option of: multiple core in tracktor option tested enable or disable, same problem.
- tested in all 4 usb ports of my notebook. (usb ok, tested other devices, like: pendrives, mp4, hd, they running great).
- tested with 2 default usb cables (in 2 days ill test with new usb 2.0 high speed armoured gold connectors).
- cable rca to link with my sound system is a brand new, and its ok
- set up input in line
- asio mode
- latest drivers, no conflicts on control painel

so, i have no idea what is wrong, i think the problem is the poor quality usb cable, anyone have information if the good quality of this item have significance in sound quality. anyone reported any issue about normal/default cable used on it.

i love the console 4-mx, but i have no confidence any more, loose credits. playing gigs with it make me nervous, sweat...

thanks for all help provided guys!!!!

"make luv, not war!!! cheers"

1) Start by apply the changes explained in this guide:

2) Before launching Traktor, in the ASIO tab of the DJ Control panel, raise or lower the ASIO Buffer Size by one step at a time.

Use Traktor as you normally would, being aware if the problem seems disappear or get worst.

Repeat this operation until you find the setting that works for your computer.

Let's see if all this helps.

Hi Dj Phatso,

Nice to hear from you, thanks for support me!!!

1 - I've made this process before, did not solve the problem!

2 - I've increase "buffer time" (3 degree), I think I have changed to 12,14,16 and same problem. The fact is, I have a good config. on my Notebook to keep the system running well, In tesis, I'm be able to choose lower latency sizes indeed, isn't?

I don't know but I have some doubts about the quality on  USB cables, therefore, a bought a good one, when it arrives (shipping) I'll have a clearly situation about the problem...

Dat's for sure, I'm praying for the problem got away of the console hardware...I really loves my 4-mx and Hercules brand!!!

Thanx a lot....Hugs

Hello Folks,

My new USB cable arrive, but UNFORTUNATELY the problem persist.

In your experience with the Hercules 4-mx and a notebook like mine (ACER - Core i3 -350m, 4Gb, 500HD) , wich ASIO Buffer size/value is recommended to set up? To keep out distortion, bad/low quality, clicks, etc....

In WDM mode seems to running well, with autonomy (I will test for more time, I not trust in it 100%, to play a 2hours gig). But I liked to running in ASIO mode, as read before, ASIO mode offers less latency than WDM...it's a decisive factor endeed? "You must to work in a Asio mode in a gig".....or not?

I know, but any chance of the problem is in the traktor installation? My last try will be format my notebook.....Its so bad, lot of work to save all data/information and take back after.....So bored when I think in it!

I start to feeling that I had made a bad purchase with Hercules....So sorry! the possibility are finish off, ending....HELP ME, MAYDAY, SOS!!!!

Hugs

There are no specific recommended ASIO settings as each computer is different. 2 computers with exactly the same processor and memory specs may behave differently just because different components might be used by different manufacturers. But yes, ASIO should be your first choice when dealing with serious music softwares.

I don't think reformating your computer is needed at this point. These kind of problem can have surprising sources. You may want to investigate different possibilities:

- The battery or the power supply could be a source problems. Try running only with the battery, or with only the power supply (removing the battery from the computer)

- There was known problems with many laptops for which there is a big thread on the Traktor forum:

Could I get technical assistence in Brasil ??? I really think the problem is hardware....Bad luck!

I will send the console to fix it or make a technical report to change this unit.

Thanx

Hello,

I doubt this issue is hardware related. An issue occurring after 30 minutes is generally linked to a background process starting in the computer.

As you did not list 1 by 1 you did the settings to avoid the background task which crashes the audio quality, can you confirm you have done the 2 standard operations :
1) disable Wifi: one should not do real time operations with wifi on in Windows. Disable Wifi doesn't mean not using Wifi, it means switching off the Wifi from the computer..
2) disable Windows setting cutting the power on the USB (your issue really looks like this stupid USB setting) on ALL the USB ports.

Hi Maxdjack,

1 - Yeah! WI-FI disabled pressing FN+F3 on my laptop, not disabled at control panel. (this is enough? (FN+F3) function to disable the WiFi?
2 - Off course all USB running ON always. in ALL ports. Set up the system to running in HIGH PERFORMANCE as well.

No antivirus installed, Firewall turned Off, windows defender off, etc.

DPC Latency checker software, with green bars while the traktors running.

I think that my last chance is reformat my laptop and only install the Hercules+Traktor+Drivers and try to running more than 30min. and check with the issue persist.....

My battery is not so good, but I'm always djing with my laptop plugged on energy, the battery can make any problem related...

Thanks for all......Hugs

Hello,

1) If you can a USB hub powered with an independent power adapter, can you try using the 4-Mx on this USB hub?

2) If you have a mouse, can you try removing it and using your DJ Console 4-Mx either with no mouse (with just the computer mouse pad) or with another mouse?

3) Can you switch off the bluetooth on the laptop to make sure the issue is not caused by a bluetooth scanning?

I don't find an Acer 4547 on Acer website byt I find Acer Aspire 4745, 4745G and 4745Z: can you confirm your computer model is indeed 4547?

Hello Folks,

I found a better way to fix the problem. I bought a MACBOOK PRO (core2duo 2.26Ghz, 4Gb DDR3 1066Mhz, 160Gb SATA II)....BUT, the world is not perfect yet for me, unfortunately my 4-mx had an accident, someone crash the hand in the pitch button when I need to stay away for while....I think the potentiometer broke, the slide cannot send any movement to traktor, sounds it dead, and the light CTRL on Traktor stay blinking, its like potentiometeris is in short circuit.......

The question is, WHERE I'll find a
potentiometer unit to replace the bad one? WHERE I'll have technical assistance at BRAZIL to change and fix the problem?

ACTUALLY, THE MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL.........I put myself in a big trouble? This kind of problem is serious or common and easy to fix? Could I got the console 100% again after the repair or I'll never got the console works property again?

This bad event, believe me.....make my cry, my baby is sick. Im so bored!!!

(Yeah! sorry, the model was ACER 4547)

Tanx for all guys, and never, ever leave your babies alone, even for a 1 minute, keep your eyes on it.....dont miss a beat!

Hello,

1) I have sent you an invitation, please add me to your friends (in My Space > My Friends) so that we can exchange private messages to send you the slide potentiometer information.

2) Without testing your console, it is difficult to know whether changing the slide potentiometer will make it work again, but
- if it was a mechanical issue (as the 4-Mx falling on the ground or something falling on the potentiometer), there is a reasonable hope replacing the pitch potentiometer will work,
- if it was an electric issue (as someone pouring coke on the potentiometer), then it is difficult to know as what is dead may be the piotentiometer, but also the circuit going to the potentiometer (and then changing the potentiometer would not be enough).

Do you know in Brazil an electronic specialist who can exchange the potentiometer?
It is a through-hole potentiometer, so changing the pitch fader requires the electronic specialist to
- remove the Printed Circuit Board (PCB) of the DJ Console 4-Mx casing,
- warm up the holes attachements of the current potentiometer to remove the current fader,
- clean the PCB holes from the soldering
- place the replacement fader in placing its feet in the PCB holes, and solder the fader to the PCB.

Glad to hear from you MAX,

Yeah! Someone hit the pitch button from left to right, and the button still like the Costa Cruise Ship sank about 1 month ago.....No fluids inside, all clean and dry....There is no problem with liquids (God bless me! :)....and the button appears not to be in contact with the board, its like flying, without contact.....(something like a crossfader slider, so easy to move).

I sent you a private message......now I pretty happier, maybe I'll give back my equipament works property in near future.....

Tanx for all mate.....best wishes!!! Hugs!!!

Hi Mark. I live in Brazil too and I'm having a mic input issue on my brand new RMX2. Did you solve the problem on your 4-MX here or sent back to US to RMA it?

0

Gil,

I have already posted an answer to the same question you have raised in another discussion.

What you describe in this other discussion is not a bug: it is the way VirtualDJ 7 software supports the micophone input on DJ Console Rmx2.
It is not a hardware issue, Rmx2 microphone input operates normally in ANY other software than VirtualDJ, but in VirtualDJ 7, Atomix Production has decided to disable the microphone HARDWARE mixing to replace it with a SOFTWARE mixing.

You can see the microphone input hardware mixing operates normally on the audio output 1-2 with any other software, for example in Djuced 40, so sending back a hardware which is not defective because you don't like a setting in the software will not change anything to the software setting.

I ...!

I Have a sound goes bad after some time on my Hercule 4-Mx i have found my problem.. the bug appen when i touch the console with my hand! When static dicharge append on my finger.. so i resolve it ... just use a power cord to ground the console (use the green wire on any 3 pin power cord) fix the green wire to the ground point on the console ( this point is to ground a turn table) and plug the cord to ac outlet !

Now my console 4 Mx Never crash since i have groinded it !
