hi guys!

im new here in this forum and im asking for your help.

i just bought a new hercules dj console mk2 with traktor 3 le. so here it goes... i insert the cd and install the driver software and after succesfully installed the driver, a windows pop-up and says "windows needs to install driver software for your unknown device" so what i did is ofcourse i clicked "locate and install the driver software(recommended)". after that, theres a small message box on the lower right corner in the taskbar and says "installing device driver software". then a window pops-up again and says "windows couldnt find driver software for your device" and theres 2 selection which is 1: check for solution(windows will check to see if there are steps you can take to get your device working). 2: browse my computer for driver software(advanced). so i choose option #2 then locate the drive and folder where the hercules is installed. but unfortunately it says, "windows was unable to install your unknown device".

i tried to un-install the driver in the computer and i went to hercules tech support website to see if there is a new driver for this device. then i download the latest driver (2009_hdjs_3) and installed it but, still the same message i got and no success.

i check the device manager and found out that it is "unknown device"
i tried to un-install, restart the computer, and re-install the latest driver again as administrator, still no successcry
i tried disabling the firewall and antivirus before installing the driver, but still no successcry

i tried to google and search on the internet to solve my problem but i couldnt find the right answer. if you guys know this problem i have, i would appreciate your help!

heres my laptop specs just incase you need information:

os: windows vista 64-bit sp2
processor: intel centrino core2duo t9400 2.5ghz
ram: 4gb
hdd: 500gb
graphics: nvidia geforce 9700m gt 512mb ddr3

heres my dj gear:

hercules dj console mk2 with traktor 3 le

i hope you could help me solving this problem....

regards,
ariel

Follow the procedure indicated in this document:

http://ts.hercules.com/faqs/eng/her_eng_00265.pdf

If you have devices that are not installed correctly, they should appear in Device Manager with a yellow "!" next to them.

Please enumerate all these problematic device so we can get a better idea of where the problem might be.

yes I followed the procedures in installing the driver for vista 64-bit(latest driver from hercules tech support website) and it succesfully installed in my laptop . but, as i've said in my first post, a window pops-up saying "windows needs to install driver software for your unknown device", etc.

I checked the device in the Device Manager and found out that my console is "Uknown Device!" (yellow triangle w/ exclamation point).

any ideas what problem might be?

Hi again! I repeat again the driver installation(un-install, re-install).
now, i check again the device manager and right clicked the "Unknown Device"[yellow triangle with(!)]
right click on it then click "browse my computer for driver software"
then click "let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
under the "select your device's type from the list below" i choose, "hercules dj devices" then click "next"
a window appear saying "select the device driver you want to install for this hardware"
there are 4 selections i saw in the box:
1.Hercules DEEJAY TRIM 4&6 ASIO
2.Hercules DJ Console ASIO
3.Hercules DJ Console Mk2 ASIO
4.Hercules DJ Console Rmx ASIO.

i choose #3 "Hercules DJ Console Mk2 ASIO" bcoz thats the model of my console.
after selecting #2, i click "have disk", "browse" click the path-> c:\program files\hercules\audio\dj console series\drivers\HDJAsioK

then, clicked "open" and "ok"

then, i clicked "next" and a window appear "Update driver warning" (installing the device driver is not recommended because windows cannot verify that it is compatible with your hardware. if the driver is not compatible, your hardware will not work correctly and you computer might become unstable or stop working completely. do you want to continue installing this driver?...

i clicked "yes"

then i check again the Device manager and found out there's the "Hercules DJ Devices --- Hercules DJ Console Mk2 ASIO" with yellow triangle and (!) icon, not a "Unkown Device" anymore.

there is no icons-> "Hecules DJ Console Mk2 Bulk", "Hercules DJ Console Mk2 MIDI", "USB Audio Device" under the sound, video and game controllers. like the ones that appears here--> http://ts.hercules.com/faqs/eng/her_eng_00265.pdf

is there something i did wrong or i missed while manually installing the driver? please help!

You went a bit ahead of what I wanted you to try before manually installing the drivers....

Without having the console connected to the computer, do you still have those Unknown Devices?

If so, it would indicate that something else on your computer is not installed properly, which could prevent the console to be installed properly.

If this is not the case, and it's only when you connect the console  that they appear, then maybe the console has a problem at being detected. In this case, you should try this procedure:

Hi DJ Phatso,

Yes, they appear only when i connect the console in the laptop and i guess also that there's a problem with the console itself (not the driver) when being detected.

as for the ts_hercules.pdf procedure you've mention, i carefully follow the step by step guidelines in it and when i open the Device Manager(step 5) i found the "Hercules DJ Console MK2 ASIO" with yellow triangle and (!) in it after i plugged in the Console(step 7). there's no more "Unknown Device".  I went through the steps and guidelines but i only got up to step #7---> Plug in the device, while still holding the Talk-Over button (Hold until the Device Manager sees the device arrival OR there is a "Found New Hardware" dialog box.)
a). If there is a "Found New Hardware" dialog, then proceed with the installation of the device.

under the "Found New Hardware"(Windows needs to install driver software for your Hercules DJ Console MK2 ASIO), there's 3 choices namely: 1. Locate and install driver sofware(recommended), 2.Ask me again later, 3. Dont show this message again for this device.

I choose #1 and there's a green color orbiting around in an icon(dont know what is it) in the lower right corner near the clock.

when it stopped, a window pop-ups again saying..."insert the disk that came with your DJ Console MK2 ASIO". (if you have the disk that came with your device, insert it now, windows will automatically search the disc for driver software).

i clicked "I dont have the disc, show me other option" instead of inserting the disc bcoz i know the driver is outdated in the cd. and i went through until i reach the "browse for driver software on your computer" and "Windows was unable to install driver software for your Hercules DJ Console MK2 ASIO"Frown

I guess my final conclusion is, it's my console that has a problem not the driver i installed from the hercules website as well as procedures and guidelines you've posted here.

I will send it back to the store where i purchased it and maybe i will try to change it to Hercules DJ Console RMX. what do you think? is DJ Console RMX compatible with Vista 64-bit?

btw, are you from Canada? which part?.... im from Banff, alberta.

Thank you so much for spending extra time to help me with this problem.

Regards,
Ariel
