please can someone help me. i want to control the effects in traktor pro with a knob or slider on my hercules mk4. i can switch on the fx on my mk4 but can only control the effects by using my laptop mouse. i understand this is done by midi mapping in the controller manager in traktor, but due to the limited buttons and sliders on mk4, i would like to know which would be the best option. has someone done this and can give me some advice.
many thanks for your help.
Have you tried the TSI profile available on the Support site ?

This mapping , as you can see in the accompagning document, uses the Pitch encoder to control the amount of effect applied.
Thanks for your swift reply. To be honest, I have two problems. In the Hercules DJ console control panel, in Audo Mode, if I swtich to ASIO, then go to Traktor’s Audio set up and choose Hercules DJ console mk4 ASIO, Traktor will not work, it will say I need to connect Audio device, which I have done, so I have to choose WDM in the Hercules DJ console control panel, Traktor will then work. So I use the TSI you suggested and the functions on the mk4 work with Traktor, but after pressing the relevant button I can’t get the Pitch encoder to control the amount of effect in FX. It will control only the filter button on the mixer. I very much appreciate your advice. Thankyou.
Did you make sure the console is installed correctly?

If everything seems to be in order, then try the following test:
1) Download the following software:
http://www.tropicalcoder.com/ASIOTestSigGen.htm
2) before launching the application,be sure that
- the DJ Console is set to ASIO in the Control panel
- Traktor or other applications susceptible of using the ASIO driver are closed.
3) Upon launching ASIOSinGen, configure as follow:
- Select ASIO driver:
Obviously choose the Console driver
- Select Device Output:
I would choose the headphone output (Output 3/4) since you can easily control the volume (be sure to to lower the volume before proceeding with the test).
Once this is done, click any of the wave or noise button which will send a short signal in the headphone. If you can hear the signal, then the ASIO driver is working correctly.
IF however you get an error message, then there may be a problem with the ASIO driver.
4) Switch to WDM in the control panel. Launch ASIOSinGen again.
You should normally get the following window message:
Can't interface with an ASIO driver - Exiting!
Change the audio mode to ASIO and launch ASIOSinGen again. If you are able to launch the applications normally, then the control panel and the ASIO driver are working correctly and that the problem is most probably related to Traktor.
Thanks but it still don't work. Can I be clear about the problem. The only way mk4 works with Traktor is WDM in mk4 control panel, audio set up, and Hercules DJ control mk4 in Traktor audio set up. This works perfectly. But there is no way I can control FX in Traktor with the knobs on the mk4. Do you think I can do it with midi mapping in the Traktor control manager??
Sorry for all these questions but I really want to use the effects well.
I'm a little worried that you cannot use ASIO with Traktor (which would be so much beter), but let's skip that for the moment.
For MIDI, everything is possible if you are willing to put in the time and effort to lern the basics and be ready for some trials and error.
I would first suggest to start with the Traktor user manual (section 13.20 Controller Manager), which will provide you with the basics descriptions of what is available and how to go about starting. For more in depth information, I would highly recommand www.traktorbible.com
There are also plenty of tutorial available:
Yeah it is a shame I can't use ASIO and it doesn't work like I want it to, but all I want is to be able to control that dry/wet button in effects. If I can do this by midi mapping then I am prepared to spend time looking at how to do this. Thanks for all your help.
Try this:
From the RUN menu (Start > Run or Windows Key+ R), type the follwing line:
Regsvr32 HDJASIOu.dll
Then press Enter
You should receive the follwing message:
DLLRegisterServer in HDJASIOU.dll succeeded
Now try selecting the Mk4 ASIO driver in Traktor.
I did exactly what you said, but I’m afraid the Hercules DJ Console mk4 ASIO in Traktor only works with WDM in mk4 controller panel. But thank you. I’m learning how to midi map from the video link you sent.
Someone just reminded me of a problem we've seen on a recent computer (Intel i7) where certain USB ports would not allow ASIO to be used, similar to what you are experiencing.
Would you happen to have a powered USB hub you could use between the console and your computer, to see if that allows you to use ASIO or if the problem persist?
Also, try different USB ports.
I have tried all four USB ports on the laptop. The interesting thing is, the mk4 control panel will only work in one of them, and it must be in WDM mode for it to work with Traktor (Hercules Dj controller mk4 ASIO mode in Traktor). I will try to get hold of a powered USB hub and try this. Thanks.
What's your laptop model ?
Any chance that the 3 ports where it doesn't work are USB 3.0 ports (the inside of the connector is blue)?
The 3 ports which don't work are not blue inside, they work with all my other USB connections. The laptop I have is a Dell PP18L. Old, but works fine. I am having trouble tring to borrow a powered USB hub, I don't really want to invest in one if it's not the problem. But thanks for your continued interest in the problem.
Hello,
The reason why you cannot activate set the ASIO may be due to a limit of USB bandwitdh if the USB hub inside the Dell is a single TT USB 2 hub.
Can you check if you still have this difficulty to set ASIO when you connect no other device in USB to this computer: it may come from an unproper declaration in anhother USB device as a mouse for example (I had an issue with ou Microsoft trackball until I updated its firmware)?
Thanky for your suggestion but the controller is the only device connected to an USB port.
Externally, yes, but manufacturers often use the USB bus internally to connect other devices such as webcam, card readers, CD,etc.
