hey guys,

i recently upgraded from the mk2 console to the hercules steel console.

ive installed all the drivers (updates as well) & virtual dj software

hooked it all up and after trial and error got the music to play out of both channels..

my problems are..

1. i cant get the headphones to work properly, the best ive done is get one channel working but it was extremely soft and the cue didnt work so i couldnt hear the other channel?

2. when the sound comes out through my amp it makes a pop and crackle noise every few seconds when im using the cross fader or turning the volume up. ( my speaker and amp system work perfectly with my other equiptment)

3. there isnt a step by step guide out there for the hercules steel console or a video thats in english that explains it??

my set up is,

dell inspiron i6400
genuine intel(r) cpu
t2500 @ 2.00ghz
998mhz. 3.00 gb of ram

window xp
service pack 3

my external sound is m-audio conectiv synchroscience 4 channel ( below is the pictures of it )

so if anyone can please help me get this up and running for me would be fantastic!!

ive searched all the forums, websites and also read the manuals for virtual dj & hercules steel console
without any luck..

thanks

draz

the basic configuration in virtual dj regarding your soundcard should be similar to that of other software: you need 2 stereo outputs. 1 for main, the other for preview.

in the vase of vdj, the configuration should look like this:

- input : none

- output(s): headphone

-soundcard:  ??

at this level your have 2 choices:

a) if your soundcard uses a wdm (standard windows driver), your should see it by name (connectiv for example). once you select it, a menu should appear, allowing you to select your configuration for the main out (usually 1/2) and headphone (usually 3/4 ).

b) if your card support asio drivers, obviously select "asio". as before, menus will appear, allowing you to configure your soundcard outputs and audio settings (check the soundcard manual for more details) .

as for crackle and pops, you can play with the asio buffer size until you find the correct setting for your computer.

ive also found this faq from the m-audio web site:

http://www.m-audio.com/index.php?do=support.faq&id=6b33486c30e399a30148ba72da874fbc

regarding the dj steel , it should work out of the bat if your are using the bundled version of vdj, but if you moved to the pro version, be sure to enable it in the remote section of the configuration.
