if you are using virtual dj le included with a dj console (mk2 / rmx/ mk4), then no configuration is necessary or possible. simply connect your speakers to output 1/2 and headphone to the headphone connector of the console.

if you are using virtual dj le included with a dj control (mp3 / steel/ mp3 e2) or virtual dj pro, then your soundcard need to be multi-channel ( 4.1 or 5.1 for example) and have the appropriate connections in order to use headphones for previewing.

once youve configured your soundcard in 5.1 mode, connect your headphones to the front speakers connector on your sound card (green), and your speakers to the rear connector (black connector on most sound cards).

you will then need to configure virtual dj soundcard configuration as:

- input : none

- output(s): headphone  > master chan3/4 / headphone chan1/2

-soundcard: 4.1 card >  your soundcards name

master: front output, headphone: rear output

master: front output, headphone: center

1) are you using a laptop and trying to use the internal souncard ?

if this iscase, it will never work as the soundcard doesnt have the necessary output

2) are you using a desktop computer and trying to use the internal souncard ?

- again, make sure the souncard as all the necessary connectors

- that the card is configured in 5.1 .

the easiest way is to use windows control panel > sound.

select the soundcard you want to use , click the configure button at the bottom and foloow the instructions. if the card is capable, you will know from there.

3) are you using a computer with an external souncard (connected through usb or firewire) ?

what is the model of the card ?

i am using a dektop. the card supports 5.1. i have checked in the back of the pc as well, it has all the wright jack slots. headhones in green and speakers in black. the soundcard is a realtek hd, dont know the exact model.

ill try to explain what happens when i press the button with the headphnoes drawn near them. lets say i have 1 song playng on each deck. if i pres the button on the left deck it switchs to that and i can hear only that deck regardless of the crossfader position, if i pres the button on the right deck, it it the same story but i can hear this deck playing.

from what i have read in the users manual, i should hold it to preview and when i stop holding it, the led should stop blinking, instead the buttons react to the simple push and so the led stays on until i press the button on the other deck at whick point the led coresponding to that button turns on.

i think it could be something of the key bindings. something does not connect propper

there is indeed a different behavior between virtual dj djcedition originally included with the control mp3 and virtual dj pro, so what you are experiencing right now his correct for this version.

you can change the buttons binding from the mapper tab,in vdj preferences using the vdj script:

hello banser,

to tell you the command in the mapper, we need to know which version of virtualdj pro you use, as the command in virtualdj 6 pro mapper is different from the learning in virtualdj 5 pro remote control menu.

if you use virtualdj 6 pro, the pfl (cue select) command is "select", but i dont understand why you ask this question as it is already in the default map of the dj control mp3 for virtual 6 pro.

Can you be more precise about exactly what you want ?

The DJ control MP3 is natively supported by Virtual DJ since version 3.4 (the current verison version being 6.1), so no configuration is necessary.

The DJ control MP3 e2 is natively supported by Virtual DJ since version 6.02, so it will not work automatically with older version (you will need to manually configure it).
