so i got this midi controller from a classmate of mine, the hercules dj control air, and he lost the install cd.
downloaded the driver package i found online.
the driver installer says that its looking for hercules products.
doesnt find the controller.
doesnt install the driver for the controller.
and after trying several times it still wont install the driver.
the hercules tray agent has a red cross in the bottom left corner of its icon.
i got a feeling that it means that i dont have any drivers for midi controllers.
so i need the asio driver for dj control air.
is there a way to get this thing to work without the cd?

The driver package available from the support should be sufficient to install the console.

Which version of Windows are you using ?  Have the latest updates?

Did you follow tis installaton procedure ?

Running windows 7 followed the install instructions to te detail.
The step where the installer detects hercules products does not see the controller.
I have seen screenshots of an asio driver for this console that i dont have installed.
I guess that is the driver that should be installed after product recognition.
is there a way to get the driver somehow without your downloader?

This is what you should get when the console installs correctly:

However, do you notice any components with a yellow ! in Device Manager following the connection to the USB port?

Have you tried different USB ports on your computer?

Do you have the possibility to simply connect it to another computer (without even installing the package) to see what happens?

I get the same problem on my other computer, also running windows 7 64-bit.
I had some usb ports recognizing the device as the hercules air and some giving the ! signal.
But even on those ports it wont install.
Controller never flashes leds, but i do hear static noise from the headphone output.

I would check with your classmate. I have a feeling he might have passed you a defective device...
