hi all,
i have recently been given a new hercules dj kit. my first time with this sort of stuff and i think its great. i needed to go and buy an external soundcard as im using my laptop. i have installed the external soundcard and i have been able to get the speakers working via this new soundcard but i havent been able to work out how to preview tracks via my headphones. here are some details...
so, i have the hercules dj control le3 with djuced 18 installed as was part of all the first downloading.
now today, i brought a best usb (ub-003) multimedia 5.1 ch sound solution external soundcard today from maplin.
the possible connections at the back are:
line in
mic in
front out
rear out
sub/cen out
so which port does the headphones and speakers need to go in. at present i have the headphones in front out and the speakers in rear out. i have tried the headphones in line in too but to no avail.
however i notice when in the settings of djuced 18 i am only given the choice of outputs 1&2 and no where is mentioned about 3&4 as noted in the manual.
currently in the drop down list of audio devices at the top i have:
speakers (usb-multi-channel audio device)
speakers (realtek high definition audio)
digital output (usb multi-channel audio device)
for each of those i have the choice in the drop down menu of master, headphones, deck a and deck b but in the other drop down box i only ever get outputs 1&2, no sign of 3&4.
hopefully i have made this clear enough. im not very technical so bear with me.

Thanks for the reply. I now have Outputs 3 & 4 available. However all sound now is coming through the headphones and nothing through the speakers. It is allowing me to preview a track but again, the main music is not coming out through the speakers at the time therefore it ends up being both decks playing at the same time through the headphones.
I have the speakers/headphones in the correct ports. I have tried putting the headphones to Outputs 1&2 and speakers to 3&4 although they seem to revert to vice versa.
I dont seem to have anywhere to coply with the instructions in the supplied document on the last 2 pages. Is that just something for Virtual DJ?

Thanks but sadly everything is still coming out of the headphones. When I try using 5&6 for the Master and 1&2 for the Headhphones, when I go back into the settings they just revert back to Master as 1&2 and Headphones as 3&4.
Which settings are you refering to exactly ? DJUCED or Windows ?
As previously mentionned, the settings in the document might not apply exactly to your soundcard, so you'll need to experiment. Output 3&4 (usually Rear Out) could be the output to use in your specific case.

The same was happening on outputs 3&4 too. Will have another play around later.
