Hi, I’m having an issue with my Hercules DJControl Inpulse 200 (Mk1) on Windows 11. The controller is connected directly via USB 3.2, and I’ve done a full clean reinstall of both the latest Hercules driver (HDJCSeries PC [2023.HDJS.2 - Windows 10-11] ASIO drivers) and DJUCED 6.4.1. All controls work normally except the crossfader. When I move it, it tracks correctly in DJUCED, but as soon as I stop touching it, the software crossfader instantly snaps back to a fixed position. If moved left, it snaps exactly to the center, and if moved right, it snaps to slightly left of the center. It's always the same spot. The movement is smooth with no jitter or scratchiness, and other faders hold their positions properly. I'm not sure what the issue is. Can this be fixed by recalibration/remapping, or is there any other solution?
Since I wasn't familiar with the problem, I looked it up on chattgpt, and it seems to be a calibration or MIDI mapping issue with Win 11. I would delete the software from %appdata% and reinstall the entire software, but you should also remove the folder from %localappdata%. Reinstall completely because it is possible that the file exists twice. Best regards, Baumi
Hello Hussain,
It may come from dust on the carbon tape inside the crossfader.
If you have an air blower or a dust off can, it can make sense to try to clean the inside of the crossfader (be careful, do not touch the carbon tape).
Hi Baumi,
Thanks for the reply. I tried doing what you suggested (even used BCuninstaller for a clean uninstallation and checked the %appdata% and %localappdata% aswell for any leftovers) and did a reinstall but the issue still persists. Altough, unlike before, when the crossfader was moved left, it snaped exactly to the center, and if moved right, it snaped to slightly left of the center; it now snaps back exactly to the center in both cases and it feels like it just want to go to the center, I mean I it keep sticking back as soon at it is released.
Hi UX Team,
Thanks for the reply. I tried using an air blower but it doesn't seem to solve the issue. I even tried to vacuum the crossfader region after reading one of your replies on another post but still no luck.
Out of curiosity, can you get the same behavior ourside of Djuced, like in a MIDI tester app or web app like https://hardwaretester.com/midi ?
The Phat One
Hi DJ Phatso,
Well, the website you mentioned doesn't seem to detect the controller but I have tried using Serato DJ Lite to check the issue and it does the same thing there aswell.
Have you tried performing a hardware reset and connecting it to a different USB port to see if it works?
Disconnect the controller from the USB port.
Hold down the SHIFT button.
While holding down SHIFT → plug in the USB cable.
Wait 10 seconds.
Release the button.
Start DJUCED and test it.
Hi Baumi,
Does the controller show any indications of being reset? I did try what you said, held down the left SHIFT on the controller, connected it to a different USB port, waited 10 seconds before releasing the SHIFT button and then tested it again but no luck. I hope I did everything right.
Yes, you did the right thing; there seems to be another error. Because there have been cases where that has helped. Every now and then, an error can creep in—rarely, but it is possible. Regards, Baumi
Hi Baumi,
Welp, looks like it didn't work out in my case. Regardless, thanks a lot for all the help.
I will continue to research what else can be tested. If I find another solution, I will let you know. Best regards, Baumi
Hello Hussain,
1) Testing on another MIDI app
Phatso proposed to test on a MIDI website as https://hardwaretester.com/midi , it requires a MIDI compliant web browser as Google Chrome.
You may also test on Morningstar MIDI Monitor https://www.midimonitor.com/ .
2) Changing the crossfader
If the DJ controller is out of warranty, you may change the crossfader: you may
- order one to https://support.hercules.com/en/contact-en/ , it is Taiwan Alpha RA4544F-201-15C1-B10K-0097G
- or you may order cross references as Fan Rui SK458GHA01-15C-0B10K-ZG±20%
Hi UX Team,
I tried testing on Hardwaretester using Google Chrome and was able to track the MIDI activity. The crossfader seems to show the same behaviour on there aswell. Morningstar was also picking up the MIDI activity but I wasn't able to comprehend the logs.
If changing the crossfader is my only option, then I'll look into that a little later.
Thank you for the replies and the help!
