Hello everyone,

Recently I have wanted to use the mid eq on my controller, so I remapped my gain knob to be high eq and high knob to be mid. My intent was to remap the high knob to be used with shift to control mid eq and retain the gain control. I was met with an xml issue likely due to syntax... Nonetheless, I was wondering if anyone had experience remapping the controller to use the shift feature paired with high knob or if there was an xml file already floating around.

Could the mapping file be uploaded on a non-expiring url please? Or even better, could you please tell us the relevant changes we need to make to the original mapping file to achieve this result? Thanks in advance

Hello Jorrik98,

No, I cannot upload the mapping on a non expiring url, as it proved not to be the best solution is the past (we had non expiring url for firmware files, and we posted on forum/facebook explanations + direct links when users needed them, but these url were copied out of Hercules control to other users without the explanation on how to use them and on which hardware, resulting to hardware problems with users installing the wrong firmware for their hardware, or not taking the security measures during the firmware update process, or damaging the eeprom in the hardware by repeating at each computer boot an operation which should be done only once).

The changes in the mapping file are as follows:

1) In the DEFINITION section of the mapping file

I add 2 controls called MEDIUM_A and MEDIUM_B and assign them to the commands produced by Shift+High on Inpulse 200 MK2

Deck 1 = B4 04

Deck 2 = B5 04

The controls definitions can then be

<control name="MEDIUM_A">
<input message="b4 04 40" min="0" max="7f" type="interval"/>
<lsbit-input message="b4 24 40" min="0" max="7f" type="toggle"/>
</control>
<control name="MEDIUM_B">
<input message="b5 04 40" min="0" max="7f" type="interval"/>
<lsbit-input message="b5 24 40" min="0" max="7f" type="toggle"/>
</control>

2) In the ACTION Section of the mapping file

I have added 2 lines describing the actions of MEDIUM controls

<map name="MEDIUM_A" action="chann=1 action=medium value=&quot;auto&quot;"/>
<map name="MEDIUM_B" action="chann=2 action=medium value=&quot;auto&quot;"/>

UX team, my question to you: UX team, can't you program it so that the customer can decide for themselves whether they want to run the link or not? So that, like in Discord, you give the customer the option to run it when it is created or never run it, as in Discord?

Hello Baumi,

That is what I did in the past, I provided long lasting urls for the DJ users, so that they could decide for themselves whether they want to download the file or not, the links at that time were for firmware files.

But after Hercules technical support warn me that my files were causing crashes and an increase of technical support calls, I found some forums had published the links without the instructions on how to use these files, so that some users damaged their hardware in updating firmware without the power backup of a USB hub, or in using files which did not fit with their hardware, so I removed the online files to cancel the urls, and it proved efficient as the problem stopped, so that now I provide only short term urls, which avoids this issue.

UX Team, yes, now I understand. I also think it's good that you've incorporated it—a very good decision on your part. Thank you for your brief explanation.
